Sorry you're having pain. I don't really get pain - I take magnesium citrate to keep my any spasticity under control. Seems to work wonders for me. What sort of pain do you have?

I know people that take lyrica or neurontin for nerve pain. Maybe you can talk to your doctor about this.

I try to limit my intake but it is difficult as the pain gets worse as you age and the disease progresses. :(

Baclofen, although, I must say, it only does so much :( I'd have to agree when it's REALLY bad I have to take a Tylenol 3 and THAT doesn't even touch it sometimes :(( I hope you feel better, dear!!

2700 mg of Gabapentin a day, but it is not working anymore and am going to see if my insurance covers Lyrica. I only get it in my face, lips, tounge and lately my throat burns like I've eaten hot peppers and also my whole moth burns. I do hope you find relief.

Sorry for ur pain. I take Neurton as needed. I also use Duragic patch. I originally changed it ever 3 days. Now I change it every 2 days and it has controlled my nerve pain. Hope this helps.

I take Nortriptyline & it seems to work pretty well for me. I tried Neurontin but for me it didn't work as well. I guess you just need to try all otions & see which works best for you. Good Luck.

Thank you for all your replies. I've taken Cymbalta, Neurontin and Lamictal. None of them have touched the pain. The Neurontin...the highest does I was at is 600mg daily. That seems rather low from what someone said here (2,700mg) and what I've read elsewhere.

I just looked up Nortripyline and wonder if I should suggest to my neuro that I try that and increase the Neurontin. My neuro has told me they don't prescribe narcotics for nerve pain, which surprises me since so many other people with MS are prescibed narcotic meds. I really don't want to go that route anyway. I work full time and can't be incapacitated at all.

I am not very fons of Neurotin. The first year I took it I gained 30 lbs. Have u ever tried using a Tens Unit. My physical Therapist recommended it. It isn't a medication. It works by sending electoral impulse. It works great for my nerve pain. Look into it. At the most it costs $20.00

I don't have nerve pain but I know others locally with MS who take neurotin and it works for them. I took it for sleeping problems and it made me feel like a zombie so I won't bother with that. Also, I have heard of the tens unit. They sent me stuff by mistake and it was more than $20 but it is covered by insurance so perhaps the deductible is $20 but i don't really know.

There is one alternative--and that is the one that Montel Williams uses. You know what I am talking about, I am sure.

I called my neurologist the other day and asked if I could try Nortriptyline and he sent in the prescription. I've only been taking it for 4 days and it's another med that needs to be increased a little slowly, so no real results as of yet.

Wow, I'm jealous that your insurance covered it. Mine didn't. I just looked at my sales receite and it was only $ 18.89. I'm sure the price fluctuates depending where u get it. Either way it is tterrific with taking pain away.

Are you having alot of neck pain with your blurred vision?
