This is my first IV treatment and I want to scream. Some lady was sitting at Walmart as the greeter and I wanted to stuff cottonballs in her mouth. Not sleeping well at all. Just wondering if this stuff does this to you. I have to say the dizzy and numbness in my hand are gone but hope the pains in my head don't come back or dizziness

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. He gets a terrible cough; he coughs all day and all night, making it hard for him to sleep, and his nose runs.I've tried every allergy medicine, OTC and RX, and none of them affect his...

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
Steroids have 3 main side affects for me, insomnia, the munchies--since I try to keep my weight under control that is upsetting for me too. and the EMOTIONAL ROLLARE COASTER!!!!
After my first 5 day infusion I refused to do it because of that emotional rollar coaster thing. I refused twice. Getting oral instead once and doing 1 day instead of 5 days. This time I agreed to do the 5 days, thinking I had overracted to that first time...the emotions were terrible after I had lost my job & was emotional to begin with...
This time I think they gave me some benadryl in the infusion & I slept through it most of the 5 days. The first day I thought I might not get insomnia, by 3AM I knew I was gonna get it....but after midnight its too late to do anything about it...so I just went without sleep the first day. The 2nd day I took benadryl at 10 PM and I did sleep. The tird night the same, benadryl at 10 PM again. The 4th night gewtting sleep was so nice, I slept through the infusion and then I slept so well at night...that I just took the benadryl around 6 pm dutriong the evening news. The next morning I felt better than ever & did all kinds of houssework done before the infusion.
I kept taking benadryl as a sleep aid through the oral taper..and stopped when I was totally done with steroids.
How soon you get a positive benefit from the steroids varies betwwen individuals and varies within the same individual.
The first 3 times the next day. This time I'm waiting on it. I got some benefits right away but not all I wanted.
My doc scheduled a follow up appointment in 6 weeks.....so I think thats about the tame frame of patience needed for steroid response.
High Potassium foods for me are bananas, raisins and potatoes.
I microwave potatoes cut into quarters then put ketchup on them.
I avoid deep fried foods because of the weight gain.
After the first day this time, I told the nurse the 3 main side affects for me are insomnia, munchies and the emotional roller coaster. I told her I was going to go home & battle insomnia and the munchies today, and that she would know how I was doing on the emotional roller coaster in 4 more days.
Take something to sleep, no later that 10PM...earlier is ok. That really made a difference for me this time. And the side affects do build through out the IV & oral. Some people have said the oral is the worst for side affects. IV is the worst for me.
