My hubby has NEVER went off his Rebif the ONLY exception was once when he had to go on antibiotics so he missed 1 dose. So my point is I am not saying people should go off meds. I posted on something I found interesting. We have done "alternative" things with diet and exercise that we feel complement traditional therapy and has helped him make some improvements.
I had chronic sinus issues but when I reduced my milk ...so did my sinus issues. The irony was that I have never tested with a milk allergy. So I did some digging and found out what they tested me for was Antibody IgE to milk. IgE is what they find when you have a SERIOUS allergy that might cause anaphylaxis shock or severe allergic reaction. The issue is that there are IgM, IgA, IgD, IgG, IgE or as I like to call them MADGE antibodies that can ALL cause allergies. I did find one place that at LEAST looks at 2 (G & E) instead of just one antibody. The test covers 90 foods and is color coated red (don't touch it), yellow (you can have in moderation) or green (eat what you like). It is done by Life Extension Company and if I find one that will look at three (A, G & E) I will dump that test and upgrade. IgG is more for chronic allergies, so you eat it and a week later you may have symptoms and IgA can be cause by issues in gut.
If you are interested in the GI test that looks at bacteria, fungus and parasites let me know. There is only ONE lab that is available for non-clinical research general public that does this work. If you want email me and I can send you their info, they could tell you of docs in your area that they are partnered with and can script a GI function test for you. It gives specific species and medications that are used to get rid of them if the test shows positive for them.
I have Ulcerative Colitis (UC). I was dx with after multiple rounds of antibiotics to combat chronic bronchitis I only started to have after 70lbs pre-eclamptic water weight I had during pregnacy where hubby was dx with MS. I have never smoked. I had this GI test done this month and will find out the results later in August. I am trying to get my hubby to have this done too. I have read this summer how they ARE finding GI abnormalities in MS. Specifically, they have found increased GI epithelium permeability in MS, RA, UC, Crohns and Type 1 diabetes. So GI bacteria, fungus or parasites maybe contributing to pathology in autoimmune diseases.
Either way best wishes to you,
EP

The main points I took home were that they are using Histamine, AMP, DHEA, B12 & Omega fatty acid treatments on those with MS and SOME have found improvements.
I am NOT trying to say anyone is crazy at all. I will say that what I do NOT understand is the FDA approving additives such as MSGs (excites neurons into thinking food tastes better than it does and it kills neurons) and Aspartame (a chlorinated sugar found to increase risk of turmors).
This is not the public's fault and I do not call anyone crazy because certain govt official's first priority is not the public health.
As you can read in Reply #4...If you feel any of this may pertain to your health then talk to your doctor/NP/PA.
Best wishes to all,

http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dailys/03/Jan03/012203/02P-0317_emc-000199.txt scroll 4/5 way down and read this. It really will make you think twice about the Reply#1 claims made by the NutraSweet Aspartame manufacturer
"mid-1970s the FDA was investigating wrong-doings of the aspartame manufacturer and stated the facts exactly as they found them:
"[The manufacturer] lied and they didn't submit the real nature of their observations because had they done that it is more than likely that a great number of these studies would have been rejected simply for adequacy. What Searle did, they took great pains to camouflage these shortcomings of the study. As I say filter and just present to the FDA what they wished the FDA to know and they did other terrible things for instance animals would DEVELOP TUMORS while they were under study. Well they would remove these tumors from the animals." [FDA Toxicologist and Task Force member, Dr. Andrian Gross (Wilson 1985)]
During the late 1970s and early 1980s, a number of key government and FDA officials left their jobs to work with companies related to the aspartame industry (GAO 1986). This included key FDA officials such
as the head of the FDA Bureau of Foods becoming a Vice President of the National Drink Association and the FDA Commissioner becoming a high-paid consultant for the manufacturer's PR firm, Burston Marsteller (Gordon 1987). "

I take NO offense at all, you are a nice person. I just wanted to clarify what I thought was interesting on the website.
I also can see why some are so mad about the "poisons" out there. I think it is more frustration at a government that turns a blind eye to the safety issues. Then they end up taking high power jobs, etc from the companies they cleared as being safe.
The consumer has little choice in the safety of the food. Organic is great and when I can get it at the farm stand and from my own garden I do. However getting it from the grocery store is exorbitantly expensive. Lets face it many do not have the money to do this and many don't have the choice. You can get frozen veggies for much cheaper...are they pesticide free No. You can't get away from it. This does not even go into genetically modified food (GMO). This alters the molecular composition of what we are eating...do we have chemical process to break it down? Does the extra burden of processing it harm our organs? One Russian study looked at animals eating GMO and in the third generation the animals had large number with problems in their liver, heart, etc. Farmers don't have much choice in buying GMO seed. The seed companies get more money for the GMO seed. So, in many cases, they will only give farmer the choice of GMO and NOT ALLOW them to buy unaltered seed. When you buy your processed whatever with GMO HFCS or GMO corn flour /soybeans does it say GMO..NO. So no choice there either and they are not even doing long term studies of GMO on humans to find out if it is safe..not that I know of. Anywho..
The TWO things we can do though is to educate ourselves. So we can make small changes in how we clean (use more vinegar water to clean windows etc, grow a garden if we can). The second thing we can do is write our govt to tell them they need to put our safety first not their wallets. In MASS numbers we can make a difference.
I wish EVERYONE only the best. I want people to be safe and happy.
