My bathrooms are the worst for draining energy. I keep cleaning stuff in each one - rags, scrubber brush and cleaners. This keeps me from having to go back and forth or downstairs for supplies.

When I have energy I tackle one task at a time. One day it may be the bathtub, two days later it may be the toilet. No room every gets cleaned all at once, but I do things when they need to be done.

I have 3 methods: First, my standards have changed. Now my focus in on maintaining a halthy and clean kitchen, with other things coming later. 2) Lace- table-clothing. This means that I got to thrift stores periodically and look for some good buys on some nice fancy lace tablecloths to throw over stacks of items that I cannot immediately get to---a pile of laundry needing folded drives me crazy when I have to look at it numerous times a day---and each time it is looking at me, calling me names. I shut the stacks of unfinished household chores by covering them and letting them sleep---just like a pet bird that wants to keep jabbering the night away!!! You have no idea how calming it is to look at someone's hand made gorgeous lace tablecloth, and know all the fond memories of family dinners it carries in itself.....3rd--I do not want to pry into your personal or family finances, but if you have a case worker through the senior and disabled services branch of the Dept. of Human Services, please contact me---you might be able to get housekeeping assistance through them, but the application has to be completely 'delicately,' or you are denied.....The MSF also has grants avaiable to assist in the payment of houecleaning assistance. Let me know if you are interested in the items in number 3 and I will elaborate on the matter.

"Lick and a promise" cleaning is my motto... I've discovered swiffer dusters (quick and easy) along with the "power of Pine Sol". At least the entire house smells good which makes it seem pretty clean... LOL But really, I like the lemon and it really does a good job on many things. Also, Windex Antibacterial for Schnauzer prints (plus it's multisurface).

I think good products (no generics) make keeping the house clean much easier. Ok, plus, I live in a small house that I designed with launtree upstairs. It's so small, I can really give it a good cleaning in one hour... xoxoxo Cj (Cindyjo)

I was raised by a perfectionist mother, but my standards are way lower than hers are, my hubby and I both have MS, plus we have 4 kids age 13 and under. (three of them being boys!) And we have 3 cats and a dog! I did get to buy the dyson vacuum I have always wanted, that helps with the persian cats' hair! LOL! Laundry will forever be my least favorite thing, that is one thing I am extremely picky about, dont mind doing it, but hate putting it away, so the laundry baskets always end up heaping before I finally decide to carry them upstairs and put away. One day we hope to sell this two story, and purchase a one story ranch.

The state of Texas pays for me to have someone for 29.5 hours a week. This last week has been hard because my normal aide had hand surgery. So my old aide is pitching in but not as many hours.

I also have a parrot that thinks he is supposed to make a nest this time of year. he shreds newspaper, twigs anything he can find & throws them on the floor for his "mate" who I guess is me. LOL!!! What a mess!

JO=GUNNY U SHUD ASK-I JUST VACUUMED AND SWIFFERED MY KITCHEN FLOOR YESTERDAY. HERE'S HOW I DO IT-I HAVE A SMALL VACUUM THAT IS VERY LIGHTWEIGHT AND EASY TO PUSH-I START OUT STANDING AND USING THE CLEANER AS A CANE-WHEN I TIRE I SIT DOWN ON OUR OFFICE CHAIR WITH WHEELS AND VACUUM SITTING DOWN-SAME WITH SWIFFERING. WORKS REAL WELL-MY DUSTER HAS A LONG HANDLE SO I CAN CATCH ANY COBWEBS ON CEILINGS AND FANS OR DUST ON MOPBOARDS. WHEN I WIPE DOWN KITCHEN CUPBOARDS BELOW SINK I SIT ON WHEELED CHAIR TO MOVE ABOUT-ANY CLEANING MORE THAN THAT I HAVE TO HIRE DONE. HOPE THIS HELPS. IT PERKS UP ONE'S MOOD TO HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE AND IT GIVES ME A SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT TO DO WHAT I CAN MYSELF.--RE CLEANING CLOSETS-I HAVE DIFFICULTY WITH THAT AS MY BALANCE IS TIPPY SO I CAN'T LIFT HEAVY OBJECTS AND MOVE THEM. (THAT'S WHAT HUBBIES R 4-LOL) HAPPY CLEANING.

blessedwi... Funny you should mention going to a smaller house. My husband, myself & 2 kids use to live in a cape cod. I insisted that I wanted a much larger house. So now here I am wishing my house was smaller again when it is time to clean. I have found that the larger the house...the larger the messes that are made.

Clean the house? Sure...throw everything that i snot absolutely essential out - give it away- you have MS no room for baggage. Get out of bed, pulling the covers up as you do. Train hubby to do same. Use bathroom - wash up. Throw dental tabs in toilet - spritz sink and counters - hubby has wiped walls down from his shower. Have coffee - eat breakfast - put your feet up while eating. I clean one room thoroughly each week. I follow the fly lady pattern. Dishes done and put away each nite before bed - all clothes hung up - throw a load of laundry in daily. I work in 20 minute intervals.Work 20 - rest 10. I cook dinner as soon as I finish breakfast since the morning is my best time. By 1 in the afternoon I'm using the scooter. I do the portion of work I alloted myself to do for the day- take a nap- set the table for dinner - and another day has passed. The house is always neat because nothing is out of place - no clutter - no mess. My biggest problem is the floors - they are all marble and need mopping. I use a damp swiffer for daily messes but hire out for the overall job.

Please tell me what happens when you do too much. I have been diagnosed with fibro, not MS. I don't have the trigger points for fibro. But, last night I cleaned the house and I just fell into bed after. I was in so much pain from my neck down. My feet were hurting so bad from nerve pain, it felt like. I am going crazy trying to understand all this. Thanks for any input.

Light a fire when it gets really dirty, collect the insurance, and move.

Well, I'll do one room per day. The day that I vaccuum I will also do the laundry. The next week I'll just start over. If the cleaning is more than usual, I'll put my husband to work and tell him exactly what to do. That works most of the time. If it doesn't, I just won't have anybody over to visit.-N.T.

in Canada I am provided with homecare three times weekly because I'm on a disability pension. They will help with cleaning or cooking & there is no charge.

I have a girl come in twice a month but do a 'lick and a promise' in between. My hubby vacuums our bedroom and the tv room. I clean the toilets (I sit on the floor) and the sinks every couple of days!

Same here, I have to take Multiple breaks, I wear down easy, I have Cerebral Palsy, And read MS is Very similar. I don't like cleaning, We have housekeepers come once a month
