Has anyone else experienced disbielief about MS?

For some odd reason, I have had several people refuse to believe I have MS, or if I have it that I'm being deceptive about how seriud it is aka "Barb, you don't really need your wheelchair.  Why don't you just walk?"  When I attempted to explain it to her, she refused to listen to me.  HOW CRAZY IS THAT?  IF I COULD I WOULD!

I haven't experienced disbelief but my son thinks I can rid myself of it if I use mind over matter or just get out of the house and go places and make friends that I wouldn't be sick. If only it were that simple.

There are many people out there that think if we just keep a positive attitude it will all be better. Just ignore their comments. As we say here in the south..."You cannot fix stupid!"

You are so right. djbritt. And as someone who can fake the results of the several MRI'S I have had. I am so amazing I SHOULD BE RULING THE WORLD! ROFLMAO!

Many people tell me "Well, you don't look like you have MS". What does someone with MS look like? We don't all have to be in wheelchairs. I look like a normal, healthy person. I don't show my disease. I've even had new doctors question me and ask "Who told you that you had MS?" I had to prove to them that I had it just because I don't "look the part". It's very frustrating.

At first this sounds like so many people are just so ignorant about MS and then I have to laugh. Linda mentioned the one that got me laughing, "Well, you don't look like you have MS." Did you ever see the movie, "Space Balls?" That one line, "that's funny, you don't look Druish." Obviously a play on "you don't look Jewish" idea. We have to laugh. Remember the spoons theory? I am having the same expierences they thought i had TOS my official surgeon is shit he sent me for a second opion he was a boss fella but said he dosnt think its TOS sent me to a nero surgeon so more waiting for a diagnosis and said i need diazepam for muscle spasms so think it might be MS but i am only 31 but look 17 an in a wheelchair people think am blagging until they see me try and walk feels like av gt lead boots while having a heart attack

What does a person look like? OK, we are probably female, white, PROBABLY not in a wheelchair, tired due to MS fatigue. But I AM A LUCKY GIRL WHO NEEDS A WHEELCHAIR!

    I just do not feel well and I really think that it's because I cried yesterday on my way to work about my Aunt who is in the hospital.  I don't think that we will have her much longer.  She is very frail.  Now she needs help eating.  So, this is the third time in a year that I felt this way after crying.  I think crying releases toxins into my body.  I also worked up a sweat at the gym...
