I dont with my body being weak ..I am simlply more careful
with me on the rebif shot I ask the Dr and drug store if I should and never got a real answer so I went with NO

I'm wondering whetherr to get a flu jab I usually iv'e had one for the past 7/8 yrs but now iv'e been diagnosed I don't know what to do,frightened incase I have a flare up:-(

All my local friends with MS say YES, but I say NO and I am doing better than they are and I don't like putting anything foreign in my body (although I am putting prescriptions in it) but still I don't the idea of a flu shot and I haven't gotten the flu. I'll take my chances.

I've never had any shots for the flu or any other vaccinations much. My late mother was part Indian and she did not believe in vaccinations and did all she could to avoid having any of her children vaccinated; she often went to what some would consider extreme measures in fact as this is how she herself was treated by her Indian mother.

So, no, never had one and never plan to have one.

They always seem to have something they want to shoot you up with and they never tell you what the side effects might be.

I remember that Swine Flue #1 vaccine in the 1970s quite well; my in-law was required to get it and almost died from it. *whew*

I always did but not this year. I got the shot last Fall//winter & still got the flu.

I use to get the flu every year until I got the shot. Haven't had it since so I highly recommend it.

my dr says yes so i do it. i've never had a problem with the shot. i have literally gotten the shot while flaring, on my way down to get steroids and had zero issues.

I was diagnosed in 2010 and still get the flu shot every year. It hasn't bothered me at all. But, different bodies, different reactions.
I'd say play it by ear, if you do get it, see how your body copes.
To be honest, I was hesitant to get them at first, but being a CNA I had no choice or I'd lose my job heh :) Hope I helped

No no no. I think it can provoke a flare. I am careful about what i put in my body.

Thankfully, flu vaccines are still a matter of personal choice, not like the Hep-C vaccine for kids in school. In my state, most kids vaccines are mandatory for public school.

Any way, my MS doc recommends Flu, Pneumococcus and Shingles vaccine, but not all at once.

The needle injection flu vaccine is dead virus and can't cause the flu. Our bodies mount an immune system response creating the symptoms of the flu though, not as bad as real flu. This response depends on how much variation there is between the vaccine and your past episodes of flu or the difference in your last vaccine. If there has been an outbreak of a mutation of flu that is a lot different from the past, like when swine flue reared it's head, the vaccine will cause people to be sick for a few days, unless they have a history of having the swine flu. The vaccine is still a lot less sick than the real flu which can be lethal in immune compromised people, old people, lung disease people, etc. or those on some of the MS drugs.

I'd go with what you doctor recommends, especially if you have kids in school. Kids bring home all kids of stuff.

Just to add, there are preservatives in some vaccines like thimersol that may cause an allergic reaction, rare but it happens. If you are allergic to eggs, flu shots are not a good idea.

I've had flu shots regularly both before AND after dx. No problems, non, nada. :)

I get the shot yearly as well as the pneumonia shot every 5 years. A cold can put me down for weeks, I can't imagine what the flu would do. However, I've never had a live vaccine.

My neuro (MS specialist) says to get one every year and I have. No problems with it and no flu. I say get it.
