I did get my first neuro fired but my pysch is the one that filed the grievance.

Get a copy of all your medical records - which you will have to pay for. You may be surprised what is in there. Once you have that, you can find out which way to go.

Thank you so much, I have signed a release form for them to be sent to my pcp, and I think with his help I can do this. The neuro has caused me so much stress from appointment #1 and I don't know if I can take it anymore, I stress about it everyday.

Basically it says that some docs don't like well informed patients.

she does get very offended when I tell her how much I know about MS. I can answer my own questions. . . then she gets an attitude! When she told me you have no lesions and no O bands, there is nothing I can do for you, you can go back to your regular doctor now. I told her that there are 5% of people with MS that don't show lesions and I still have symptoms, I have been sick for a year so she's just going to send me away and ignore my problems? She got pretty pissed. . .oh, well. That's when she took me in her office to show me my MRI to prove I had no lesions and she found a tumor! She was going to order a Cat scan immedietly because it worried her, so far NOTHING!!! My next appointment is on the 30th. . . I should not have to go through this crap, I am sick and tired of it. She has done nothing but belittle me and treat me like an idiot. she has caused undue stress and I'm going to fight back. My first appointment, she wasn't even interested in hearing about my symptoms once she heard I smoked, she just told me Emphesema caused the same symptoms and I needed to have my lungs x-rayed! I have never had any problems with my lungs or breathing in my life! Then she said. . .well, what do you want me to do? do you want another MRI? (very sarcastically) I was beside myself. So, I've decided, I won't take it anymore. This next appointment will decide the action I will take. I don't even know why I'm going?! I haven't had a CT scan for the tumor. . .so, I will just see what her excuse will be and ask to see her supervisor and complain and ask to report her or file a complaint. . .we'll see. They still haven't released my records to my doctor, and that has been almost a month ago that I signed the release papers. I know once he receives them, he will gladly give them to me for free. He is wonderful and so supportive. Sorry to ramble on, but I am at my ropes end.

i'm sorry your going through this. i never filed a grievance against a dr. anywhere other then with my insurance company and that was just a phone call.
i am concerned about your health & wasting valuable time with this neuro. can your primary care give you a referal to a different neuro? do you have a copy of your mri report and films ? you can get them from the testing facility. if the report shows the tumor then your primary care may be able to schedule the cat scan.
you can still file a grievance but that way you are still moving forward for your health.

in ontario we have a college and physicians board of doctors...most likely the same as the medical board of your states...

i had a issue with a dr. years ago..grin.. it was not pleasant...he was rude...crass...and insulting... for me to take someone like that takes alot...so i left there and called the board...they told me how to go about filing a formal complaint and i did so gladly...grin.. i had taken a girlfriend with me to the dr.s appt. so she also filed a letter with mine to back me up... we received a letter back stating that ours was not the only letter (complaint ) received concerning this so called dr. and he had .had his license suspended...

if you feel that your neuro has not done his/her job and put you in jepordary or has treated you in a non-professional way... report them....

good luck hon..and stick to your guns and intincts on this one....just think about the next patient she will treat who may not know as much as you do....

I do have a copy of my MRI report that clearly states Endolymphatic sac tumor. Obviously she didn't read it, because I noticed it before she did! I took the report to my doctor and we went over it together and he explained to me because she wouldn't take the time to go over it with me. She also told me I had Complex Partial Seizure and put me on Depakote, a seizure med. . .not good on internal organs by the way, and last time I went in and she told me there was nothing she could do for me to go back to regular doctor, I asked her about the Epilepsy, she said, ummm, oh yeah, looked in my records, (confused) I asked her if that was a positive dx and she said she wasn't sure! So I asked if I could quit taking the depakote and she said to keep taking it "just in case"!!!! so in other words, keep taking this medicine that can cause damage to your internal organs even though you might not need them!!!! Just because I don't want to waste my precious time on you. Sorry. . . rambling again.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. My neuro itself is helpful, but his office staff isn't. Downright rude to me. I think I should write something to that effect as well and complain, otherwise we'll never get treated right if we accept this type of behavior.

Maybe the best way to express yourself is with your feet, walk away.

Your time and energy is better spent finding a good neuro, getting the right diagnosis, and the best treatment. Look after yourself first. Maybe the good neuro will have a better idea of how to deal with your current doc, or maybe the new doc could help thru peer networks that are not available to the public.

i'am Canadian and my doctor treated me like crap told me no one gets ms and it's all in my head. took 6 month to get the steriods and the damage to my legs is permant
neruo told me if doc had listened to me i wouldn't have so much damage.
i hate my new life. i bearly leave the house anymore since it so hard to walk and i don't like the stares

I read each post here including yours Sherie and before I figured out what state you were in I thogh we may have had the same doctor....my neuro is the same way...asked about my left eye and she looks in it and says "hmmmm, can't really tell" I wear contacts so if she needed me to remove the darn thing she should've said so....WHERE ARE THEY GETTING THESE DOCTORS FROM?????

I wish I knew! I am on state funded medical insurance, so I feel stuck right now. . .I don't have many options when it comes to neuro's, but I will deal with what is going on with me until I can make some changes. I am angry with my care right now, and I will be making it known at my next appointment. I will be talking to her supervisor, and requesting a different neuro. Hopefully there is one that excepts my insurance. I so appreciate you all and your support.
