Have you tried magnesium?

I have a pump since 2011 it does work but is hard to get dosage right. They put pump in at 75 I am now at 245 I just have baclofen some people have pain med also. Wishing the best for you take care if you have any ? Just let me know.

i have a friend with a baclofen pump, i would honestly consider it seriously, like talk to your dr. a lot about it .

manganese is in brazil nuts, and can help with central nervous system problems, but if it's to the point of making your life more difficult, i would totally consider getting a pump put in. i would definitely get one, because they seem to help a lot.

I get really, truly, ticked off at medical professionals when they know damn well that magnesium helps over 325 ailments yet because their training is supplemented financially by the pharmaceutical companies, they just can't bring themselves to provide something more wholesome and natural, in the form of magnesium. Just look up Dr. Russell Blaylock (not just any old doctor but a retired Neurosurgeon), and then there's Dr. Carolyn Dean who wrote an entire book on magnesium and its benefits, not to mention Dr. Mark Hyman who mentions that its given in emergency rooms for heart patients yet not prescribed regularly instead of these awful drugs with side effects. Please consider magnesium.

I used to have horrible leg spasms, would wake up in the middle of the night in tears but that was before I began taking magnesium.

I mention this because I truly feel this is worthy of everyone's consideration. This stuff really works and a lot of us are deficient in it.

I do take magnesium
and a bunch of other supplements at the long term hospital I live in they believe in doing both
I have spasms that do not let go
they are to the point that I can not do things for myself
washing/bathing / brushing teeth/ feeding/ even driving my wheelchair

So sorry to hear this. I do hope you get some relief.

It can be good if you get a good doctor. I had a friend with MS who got one and it got disconnected and stopped working. Then, she had to go back in and get it done all over. So make sure that the doctor is reputable and not about to be retired (her doctor was a little out of it). But when it works, I hear that it really works good, but the doseage level has to be tweeted a number of times to get it right.

The good thing about it is that it won't make you weak like taking a lot of baclofen orally.

I take a lot of magnesium too but it doesn't work like baclofen. It helps but I need both. Luckily, not too much baclofen that it makes me weak.

Best of luck to you in finding a good doctor. It can work great if you find a good one.

I have tried magnesium & it did nothing so going to ask my Neurologist next visit as I am on high dose pain killers & spasms are really bad & can't sleep through the night at all even with morphine. I am at wits end.

I did a lot of research about the baclofen pump. I think if I lived at home and had children and or a job. I would get a baclofen pump. Living in a long-term hospital with staff around me to help. I am also able to use some assistive devices that make life easier I also have a lot of health issues. I also have degenerated disc disease. I was told that between the two I do not make a good candidate. After doing research on the Internet I decided it was not worth the risk.

I am still on baclofen just over the max dose 30 mg four times a day. They have also started me on Tizanidine (trade names Zanaflex, Sirdalud)I find that this drug makes me very tired. I also take nosian at night. I find between the two I get very good sleep. Of the narcotics I take a long-acting and a short acting for a breakthrough.

They switched me to Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic.
Dilaudid is used to treat moderate to severe pain.
I found it worked better than morphine.

Thanks for that reply. Some of those drugs I know of & I think some are not here. They have carefully managed what drugs I am on as I did have a reaction only earlier this year.

Does Dilaudid give you insomnia? They gave it to me when I was in the hospital and wasn't really in pain but they gave it to me anyway. I found that it really caused me to not be able to sleep.

Zantaflex really causes me to knock out and sleep like nothing ever. Sorry that you have to take it for your muscle spasms but I only take it when at bedtime because it is a sleeping pill for me. It is knock out drug for me.

Sorry that you can't take the baclofen pump. That is a shame because it can work for some people.

I just my baclofen pump October 6 of t is year. It cut the spasticity in my legs tremendously. My physician said it takes a little tweaking to get the dosage right. The medicine in the pump usually lasts about 1-6 months, depending on how the pump is set to release the medicine. You will return to the doctor's office for refills. The doctor should have a 2-set CD video package on the pump. Hope this helps out. Let me know if you have any other questions.
