Applying For Disability

I was dx in 2005. I've had no real relapses, just contstant and worsening symptoms. Mainly bad fatigue, pain in legs/feet/ankles, feeling of unstableness in legs, muscle twitiching, vibrations and ALOT of depression. I can no longer hold this full time job, its killing me physically and mentally. Do you think these things would would be enought to qualify me for disability? Or are they looking for someone in a wheel chair or blind?

WELL IN MICHIGAN IT IS A NIGHTMARE 2 YEAR WAITIN LIST AT LEAST, BEEN WAITING SINCE NOV OF 2004 N THE JUDGE IS NOW THINKING ABOUT IT, HAD A COURT DAY IN JUNE/WAITING AGAIN FUN FUN.........NOT

SST, I don't understand what the "waiting list" is for? Is it to get a hearing after you've been turned down.

I've always been impressed by the people I've dealt with at Social Security (IMHO, the best government agency I've dealt with).

Remember even after you get your award there is a waiting period before you get a check. The other thing is once you get SSDI you are eligible for Medicare but for that I believe the waiting period is a year(?)

I had to stop work as a pro chef due to my disability.I did get SSI with the help of a MS recommended lawyer.I did not pay a huge amt of money either for him.I was very pleased with their help.They kept on top of all legalities including when I would get my back money awarded,then then the next lump sum and finally what my monthly money would be and when it would come.The trick to SSI is DO NOT GIVE UP!!! The gov't wants you to do this,but remember it is your money.A lawyer helps because they know all the ins and outs of the Ddisability system

Did you do SSI or SSDI (SSI is 'needs based' and SSDI is essentially insurance (i.e., not based on you financial circumstances and income (except the award amount is dependent on how much you paid in).
