Just wondering......

Question for everyone. Do other people in your family or extended family also have MS or are you the only one? When people found out I had MS, one of the first questions asked was if other people in my family had it. They looked concerned when I said no one else in my family did. People probably think they are safe from diagnosis if it doesn't run in the family.

Also, I wondered if not MS, just other auto-immune disorders are common in your family? My dad had a number of allergies that were quite severe at times. Thanks!

I have a half-sister with MS.

I have a great uncle with MS. My mom has Lupus, fribro and copd. my grandmother has diabeties and rhuemtoid artheritis

No other persons on either side of family with MS. I am also only type 1 diabetic on both sides of family, extra special I guess. LOL

This is interesting so far. It seems MS does tend to run in families. I can't say anyone in my immediate or extended family besides my dad had immune issues or any issues at all really. I am the youngest of 5 children, so I was able to study the health of my siblings and parents. Everyone is a-okay, but me. I do have a first cousin with Fibro. Is that an immune disorder? If so, that would be a close relative with something.

hi, i do not know any family members with ms, but my neice was diagnosed with ra at about 5 months, shes now 26 and my brother has uc , both autoimmune diseases.

My great grandmother had MS, and my son has HSP.

No one in my large family has MS. But my aunt had some form of ataxia that ended up taking her life.

My Mom is suspected to have benign MS.

Just wondering what benign MS is. Would that be inactive MS? The other thing is that the MS I have is not a mild version. Since everyone else in my family and extended family is fine, it would seem more likely for it to be mild or something. I know it is there each and every day. I woke up this morning and told my husband, "Good news," and he wondered if I was being sarcastic. The good news was I didn't feel horrible for a change. We celebrated just a little. Take care.

My husband has no history of m.s. in his large family. He is also a twin and his brother is fine. My husband is the only one with any form of neurological disease, m.s.

Nobody else in my family had MS that we knew of. But a bunch of relitives passed away when they were "still quite young", so who really knows if I had others.
It was ALWAYS the severe Chronic Depression, weak lungs/ weak hearts and vericose veins that I was lucky to inherit from my mothers side. The heart problems came about on my fathas side this/last year. I come from a very "happy" place and nevea felt a child of mine should live as I exist.

No MS in my family.

Grandma and aunt had Alzheimer and a cousin with RA and fibro.

I could tell you about all the other things the family has But I am the only one with MS

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
