Thanks for the really kind words. And for the insight on narcissism, which I haven't studied all that much. But I have studied sociopaths! Anyway, your kinfpd words have brightened my day, so I hope the universe sends yoiu chocolate, or pizza, or something that makes you happy!
Just wanted to throw in that the personality of a person might also have to do with "good/bad" parent ideologies. MBTI personality, or other modalities might stress different values or needs for a person, so my mother.s instinct and drive might be something very different than what I consider important. Some peoples priorities are different than mine and that isn't bad, just has consequences in the relatiinship
indeed you can "love others from a distance" when necessary to protect and provide self care...do we not need to love and nurture self in order to be there for others?
there is a concept called "Healthy Detachment" that I have used at times with my own family...in other words , i took a physical and emotional break from my own toxic family relationships in order to heal and grow...now I can be around my family without allowing there own issues to affect me...mind you , this was after many years of support groups and my own therapeutic work
This is when it benefits people to grow up in a larger family community....if you have many generations and extended family close at hand, I imagine everyone could help out with mental health days and it might seem less obvious that one person is hiding from the toxics!!
