My very 1st therapist said i had depresonalization. Btw
Ive been dxd...generalized anxiety disorder, ptsd, borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, panic disorder, mood disorder, chronic depression, who knows what else. Lol
I hope you get another really good therapist! That helps so much. I think. I don't know, I can usually fool most of my therapists that I'm fine, except this last DBT person, who I miss but can't pay right now. Grrrr
I don't recall a lot of things from my past, which is so normal in life, but in our cases (DIDders) I think this is because I came along later. I know I created a new me in freshman year college, and a few after that to walk around and ADULT. So I don't know what it was like for me growing up, I'm not that close to that side of my brain. And we haven't done many severe pop-outs that I'm aware of, afew here and there but not many. I had a therapist when I was 22ish who talked about me being institutionalized, and I think that's when I realized I might be messed up enough to concern people, so I clamped down more on what I shared. And then when I did share and make friends, something always has happened to break that apart, so I've just gotten hard and pulled away from making friends.
Ugh
is this the book you're talking about? It doesn't mention DID in the synopsis.
god I love Abebooks, i can ofetn get books delivered to the door from the UK or the USA for less than half the cost of buying here in Aussie. Sometimes a lot less than half. I don't mond waiting a few weeks for them to arrive. And has anyone read any of the books they suggest as Also's at the bottom of the page?
When I first read it I had already been diagnosed years before, but had I guess locked up the person that knew about the diagnosis? So when I read this I was like, huh? That sounds like me!
And I asked my sister/roommate, what if I have this? Like, what if THIS is what has been wrong with me and could maybe explain why YEARS of therapy had never worked. And she was like, no, you don't have that!
But I took the test and scored SO high on everything, I went to see someone and they were like " well, duh! "
