Unless you had contact with another person's boil in some manner, I would think it would be unlikely you contracted that way. Then again, he could have touched a boil, then touched himself . . . . But, frankly, I don't think any of us, including doctors, really know a lot about contagion, other than it seems to keep coming back.

MRSA does like warm places. In my case, underarms and scalp.

I think you get a pretty good feel early on about when it's MRSA and when it's something else. In your case, sounds like it could be sinus drainage. Fingers crossed. The next time, I think you will know the difference. You need to get said Dr to just hand over what you need so you have it when you need it next time. If not him, find someone else.

Bottom line, you are your best doctor; you have to be because the Doctors are going to be pretty hit-and-miss..

Thanks nonames....I don't know what is going on with this mrsa thing....my results wont be back until Monday or later because of the holiday this week so im patiently waiting to see if it is once again mrsa...the doc was a different doc than I normally see because he was filling in for mine that day...he did say that we all carry it at some point and time and place...but in my throat...just got me kinda all nervous about everything you know...lol...but anyway ill post when the culture comes back and let ya know what it said, and im like you, crossing my fingers that this time its just sinus drainage..thanks again...and have a good night...

Please tell me an update, I'm going through this same thing I'd love to know if you resolved your mrsa, and how. I have already taken Clecin and now on Bactrim going on month 2 nervous

I'm a MRSA carrier, I got it from my son who's a FireFighter and got it from reviving an accident victim. I have a Blood and Immune Disorder and became a Carrier with active Flares. When MRSA flares it tends to flare in the same places over and over. Mine are on my upper right thigh and the edge of my left upper arm pit. I also have to watch any cuts or scratches because they become infected with MRSA. I have 1-2 flares a month now, it's been 6 years.

I'm not sure what kind of Dr. you went to, but MRSA is not something you get from sexual contact unless the person your having sex with has MRSA and your touching one of their lesions. And Most Dr.'s know that there are only about 3-4 antibiotics treat MRSA and one of those is by IV and the other is an ointment you put in your nose.

All people do not carry MRSA its a specific bacteria that can kill you if its not treated, if people were running around out there untreated and unkowing, a portion of them would die. MRSA lives outside of the body on surfaces for up to 3 months, it is not easy to kill. It colonizes in your nose and when you get a boil or adhesion you know it, because its one of the most painful things you will ever go through in your life. The boils I get I can stick a 3" long needle completely in and the puss that comes out of them is thick and yellow like a worm and it takes weeks to heal once you develop a boil, its not a quick thing. I usually have to go to the ER for an "SDP" Slice, Drain and Pack. It doesn't just show as a yeast or thrush type infection or strep throat.

If I were you I'd get a 2nd opinion by a Dr. at the Hospital or an Infectious Disease Dr.

The usual treatment for MRSA is Septra/Bactrim orally, Mupirocin ointment in the nostril. And when those do not work, Vancomycin by IV in the hospital.
