Staph infections are infections caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus. They include skin infections, pneumonia, blood poisoning, toxic shock syndrome, and food poisoning. Infection can happen through contact, especially if you have open wounds. Most infections are treatable with antibiotics. If you have been infected with staph, join the group for support and advice.
I was diagnosed in Feb. 08 after having pneumonia in Sept./07, not only with staph but also pseudomonas. After 11 rounds of antibiotics and IV Zoysn and I still am so sick. I have $7400.00 worth of Zyvox sitting on my counter and can not find a Dr. in this area that will take my insurance which is crazy. I can not start taking it without strict supervision due to it's side effects. I am insulin dependent and live by myself and do not have one friend in this town since I moved across country last Sept. It is keeping my sugars in the high 300's, even with 4x insulin. I can hardly walk and have problems standing due to the ruptured disc I got in Feb. 08 from coughing so much. I have spent tens of thousands of $$$ and my savings is now gone. I am retired and finding it hard to try and get well. The Zyvox came from the University Dr. at the emergency room but there is not a infectious disease Dr. on staff to follow me. I have resigned myself to the fact that this is going to kill me and am so mad at the medical profession here for letting it get so out of hand. I have been told that this is the worst medical care available in the US by medical people here. I do not have the resources or physical capability to relocate so I guess I'll die in the desert. This was to be my new start across country and I regret leaving the east coast. This would never have happened there.Sorry to be so negative, but after 8 months of being so deathly ill, I can not fight this pain and misery anymore. What happened to good medical care?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I know this is very hard for you but please don't ever give up. Keep fighting. I understand how hopeless MRSA etc can make you feel. I nearly lost my whole family to a vicious attack of MRSA. We are fine now with no signs of MRSA for over 2 yrs. You can get there also but it will take time and educating yourself with how to combat super bacteria naturally. As you know the antibiotics are not helping longterm.
Our family used a potent natural antibiotic and we did not need further medical care.
Hang in there and fight with everything possible.
