As long as your washing your hands and not picking at your skin or sores and touching your children, your doing what needs to be done. It is contagious, but it's not the Plague.
You've done a really good clean of the house, so from this point forward just make sure your hands are cleaned with soap any time you've touched your infected area. It's best to keep those area's covered with a bandage during the day, so the kids don't accidentally touch them, or you don't pick at or touch them, then forget to wash your hands. Keeping mupiricin antibiotic ointment on them helps a lot. Uncover them while you sleep (if their not oozing) so they can dry out.
I'm a MRSA Carrier, I can't be cured of it. I've had it for 6 years now with active flares. I've never given it to anyone else. It just requires common sense in keeping your hands clean and not spreading germs. Make sure you keep 1 set of wash cloths/hand towels just for you and don't let others use them, wash them in the Hot Water cycle. But you don't have to go nuts and bleach every surface all day, that will hurt the kids more than your MRSA.
Even though its incredible painful, the more you keep the sores drained, the faster they heal. And that means breaking the head and squeezing the junk out of them. It does hurt like hell, sometimes holding a baggy of ice cubes on it for a few seconds kind of numbs it and makes it a little less painful. After you drain them, clean them with peroxide, wipe the area dry well, put ointment on them and cover them.
Hope the oral antibiotics work for you. Take care.
Not sure if admins will allow the following below but I feel it's appropriate for you. The information in a book written by Michelle Moore...MRSA Secrets Revealed is a very comprehensive book that can guide you and your family concerning MRSA. I am not related to the Ms. Moore nor have I ever conversed with her or profit from her in any way. I have the book and it's very informative. I think we all go through the paranoia of infecting others as well as trying to figure out how to heal ourselves when we first contract MRSA. Thankfully, there's support forums such as this one to help us get on track.
Unfortunately, since MRSA bacteria can turn into biofilms and L-forms eradication is virtually impossible. However, lessening outbreak frequency and severity can certainly be achieved.
