Folic acid.

Is anyone taking this in extra dosage recommended by their doc to prevent m/c? If yes how much did he recommend?

4000 mcg is what they give to women who have a history of neural tube defect either in themselves, their family or prior pregnancies. 600 mcg is the normal recommendation for pregnant women.

My doctor didn't recommend anything. Didn't even discuss us having another one. Of course, after my D&C, I asked how long we'd have to wait for either a tubal or to try again. Thanks for the info! I've been taking extra folic acid even though I'm not sure we're going to try again.

Mine just recommended a specific prenatal that had 800 mcg of folic acid.

My OB told me to continue taking Folic Acid but I haven't wanted to because then it would feel like we are trying again...what is the benefit of taking it when I am not planning on being pregnant?

You become deficient after a pregnancy. I couldn't take folic acid for a while after my miscarriage due to the use of methotrexate. I had to wait until my HCG level dropped.

I am taking 5 mg a day..my RH prescribed it because out of all my bloodwork they found that I might have MTHFR. I will know more on Tues about it but I have had 2 miscarriages..for me I think we are just trying the folic acid to see if it regulates my levels..so we will see.

    Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
