I am at my wits end with my daughter in law from the minute she married my son she has not worked ,has lived with my ex (his father) because she got kicked out of her families house, and basically has this me me me attitude. She delibrately calls and says stupid things while the ex sits in the background making comments, she has been told to stop and doesnt. She constantly calls me 6+times a day and does little else but complained to me about my son. Everything from Im gonna kill your son because he drank all the orange juice and now i have nothing to drink... to I dont have anyone else to talk to so you have to feel sorry for me for me.She sure seems to have alot of people to talk to on facebook, things like oh I want to get my nails done but no one can take me or look at the mosquito bite i got (complete with pictures) and since my son is deployed right now she talks alot of crap to one of the sargeants wives , who wants her to come and visit and the two of them are scheming to get my son to pay for her plane ticket. She does not pay rent or buy groceries at the exs house. They dont have children and she wont work, I am sooo tired of her complaining. Has anybody dealt with this kind of stuff?

This is one time where the messenger (you, if you say anything) will be the one in the hot seat.
When and ONLY when your son comes to you privately can you share the events. I would keep a list of dates, times, places, contacts, and everything to show him and only him and only when he asks you in private, one-to-one.
As far as your ex goes, keep your distance and your words careful around him. He's playing games, and in the end, it will come to the surface that he encouraged the display of attitude in his home of his guest.
I will say a prayer for your well-being and your son's well-being through this deployment.
Is this the first deployment she has been through with him? Just curious.. Ive seen many people go into "shut down" mode when they dont know how to handle their feelings on that. Not saying that is what it is, or making excuses, just wondering if its a possibility.
Caller ID? :)
Ive been working on distance for awhile now( and for years with the ex) I can tolerate him if I need to for occasions that we both need to be there ie weddings graduations and stuff like that. I just always predict where she is calling from. and yes have used the caller id to not take calls many time lol She tries to track me down everywhere or leaves 15 messages on my machine..Like Im a 24 hr hotline.
No this is not the first deployment its the second. She married him mid tour and worked about 2 months and got fired. Shes been getting unemployment since . Two years now.Her thing seems to be if she doesnt get what she wants she calls everyone in both families and complains about him And has stepped that up a notch to include his CO.I dont like that tshe thinks I owe it to her all the time. Ive even sugessted things for her to get involved in to occupy herself and theres always an excuse.
My son is on to her, but cant do a whole lot while he is gone the past few days shes really overloaded me, so thanks for letting me vent
Wow, in term of getting his CO involved....ouch.... that is NOT a good idea on her part.
Wishing you the best! Hang in there..
Prayers to keep both you and your son safe!
OMG! I am so sorry for your situation. It sounds like your daughter-in-law is POISON! She will definitely make you nuts if you don't set firm boundaries asap. Like mideyebrow said, keep your distance and document everything.
You don't want to load your son down with all the drama, but when he does ask for info give him the truth. He will figure her out for himself and you don't want to be the "messenger." He will need your love and support more than ever when he begins to deal with the drama that is his homelife when he returns.
Good luck and God bless,
Marcia
