Migraine Headaches Support Group
Migraine is a neurological disease, of which the most common symptom is an intense and disabling episodic headache. Migraine headaches are usually characterized by severe pain on one or both sides of the head and are often accompanied by photophobia (hypersensitivity to light), phonophobia (hypersensitivity to sound) and nausea.
I really hope it works for you. Good luck!
I also heard that dairy could be a trigger. So in a moment of absolute pain I decided to go full vegan to try to eliminate migraine triggers. Unfortunately, it hasn't helped with my migraines but I have been sticking with it for over a year now since it has given me something I can control.
Have you had any luck with eliminating dairy?
One of the best ways to figure out triggers is to write down what you eat, and then write down when you get a headache and check for patterns.
When it comes to cheese, it's not ALL cheese that triggers migraines, it's AGED cheeses.
Also, there is nothing special about a vegan diet that will help with migraine over a SAD.(Standard American Diet) I mean, tomatoes are a known trigger for migraines, and I know vegans eat tomatoes. Also, citrus fruits can be a trigger.
It's very individualized to each person. One diet does not fit all. Start to recognize when you get migraines after the food YOU eat, and don't worry about what gives other people migraines. Those are the foods YOU should start to eliminate and see how it works for you. Remember, one size does not fit all.
Some people do go the other way though, and yes it's just as effective. Go on a very super strict diet, then slowly integrate foods back in and see which once bring on a headache and take that food back out again.
Both are an option. Just depends on the person and which way they think is best.
