Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
However, my hormones are "FINE" and I'm in menopause with all the mood swings, hot flashes, insanity, forgetfulness, etc.
I suppose if you feel like crap, think you've lost your mind, range between solar sun flare to Arctic Iceberg, you got menopause. LOL
Thank you for the info! From friends and this group, sounds like it's not unusual to still have a period at a later age. I do see my gyn regularly..who does not find it unusual either. Would be helpful to know what stage I'm inthough with the help of a blood test.
I am having so much trouble focusing, sleeping, and coping in general that I really feel like I'm losing my mind. I tried to "fake it til I make it," but sometimes all reason goes out the window.
It is somewhat encouraging to read all of your posts because I know I'm not crazy. It also helps to watch the episode of "All in the Family" where Edith goes through menopause :)
I saw a video on UTube today about MenoP and the Dr said that during menopause, estrogen levels can go up and down as much as four times in an hour! It can drop and surge over and over. This has ramifications for our brains, which "love" estrogen according to this Dr. When the estrogen drops, the brain over stimulates in order to send a message to the ovary to get cracking with the estrogen supply.....and that can cause problems with our neurotransmitters, etc, thus the depression anxiety etc...
I must admit I did have an off day today.....I was thinking about something a friend did, a minor irritation really....but within minutes I had blown it up into a major major insult. I do have issues with this gal and that is part of the trouble with so much at this stage of our lives....we get into trouble holding onto relationships that are better left to die.
But lately I have had more days of feeling like the self I was in the past. I feel I will get thru this. I have stuff I want to do and this cannot go on. I want to return to school and get a good job etc....so many my age are ending their careers and I want to begin a new one!
Just that last sentence indicates how meno is lessening its hold on me. A year or two ago.....I felt so hopeless, I would never make plans like that....now at least, I feel I can look ahead and see something good...
Good luck to all of you! Daisyc
When will it end?
