Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Hope all goes well at the doc today again I am sending you loads of hugs- I was diagnosed on the 20th of May so I am a newbie at this as well..
HOw well does the patch hang on through showers?
Bobbi
I've been on the Patch for a while. Like michellegra says, press down on it for a bit so it stays on, and make sure you don't have lotion or powder or anything topical on that area. I put mine on my abdomen about 2 inches to the right or left of my belly button (when I remove the first and apply the next one, I put it on the other side). I also make sure that the waistbands of my panties or skirts won't rub on it during my day.
I'm using Vivelle Dot, one prescription of which gives me a month's supply, using two a week. I also use vitamin supplements and allow myself rest and the room to be crazy if I feel crazy. Be GOOD to yourself, dear! You're going through a hard period (no pun intended) and you need all the loving and extra space to get over this. Read "Menopause Without Medicine" by Linda Ojeda. And keep us posted. We're here for you!
They have been my saving grace after my surgery.
Well all is going better. I had to go to the pill and it is working out okay. I was metabolizing the patch faster and having to replace it every other day rather than every three. I am taking the pill now; The dose may need to be adjusted; it seems low and I am tired and having mild night sweets. I will go along with the low energy for now as I am still recovering from surgery; i need to take it easy. I have bouts of sadness at not having children; and more I feel for my husband about this; but he said he suspected that I might not be able to have kids... and the great guy married me anyway. smiles. This 6 weeks is really difficult on him!!! I have had a few outings to town and I walk several times around my gardens during the day. I feel so bad for all the women that have female problems and want better answers and cures. The pain from the sick uterus is gone; i just have surgical pain that is healing. I feel so much better. I wish i did not have to have a hysto. but it was the right thing for me to do for my health. The endo and fibroids were very bad ; fortunately they had not gone to any of my other organs. My dr. took a picture of my sick uterus; it has helped with the grief and understanding... i knew the uterus was sick but being able to see it helped me with closure. I posted a picture of my sick uterus on my photos page. Warning it it gross. My uterus was the size of a bowling ball. I am fortunate to only have an horizontal low cut which helped with healing time; it was iffy and the dr thought it might have to be an x cut. Also something to consider with a total hysto is not keeping the curvix... i am not sure what the pros and cons are.. ... I asked my dr about keeping it becasue i heard it might help prevent bladder problems but he said that is not true. But here is the important thing... the cervical cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers so it is better to be safe and just have the cervix removed too. I am doing so much better; my body is responding to not having the sick uterus and I am healing. I am going to do well. I pray the same for you. Wellness and peace. Thank you so much for you friendships.
