Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

I started bio identical hormone replacement on Wed of this week. I am 55 missed periods for 3 months in a row. Suffering terrible with night sweats for the past 18 years, moodiness, tired, lack of sex drive no get up and go. The first couple of days I had more hot flashes during the day and the nights were no better. I called the pharmacy and we adjusted my estradiol (increasing) I was calm and relaxed all day on Friday and Saturday. I could feel it and my husband could tell. No hot flashing or night sweats!!!!! Slept thru the night for the first time in what seems forever. Was not sitting on the couch being tired at 7:00 at night. Got out of bed on Satuday morning and actually felt like cleaning and moving. I have also noticed that I am not as hungry or craving the wrong foods. Don't get me wrong a good piece of chocolate I will not turn down!!! No bloating or urine leakage when coughing. I am on Estradiol, Progestrone and a very low dose of Testosterone. I found a good Nurse Practitioner and a great compounding pharmacy.
Maybe if I hadn't been at the end of my rope I would have tried the Maca
root first but I felt I needed help fast. I have lived to long not feeling like myself. I am not recommending this for anyone but do not be afraid to read about it from several sources. It seems to be working for me. Will stay monitored on it. My insurance co pay was 25.00 for each script. It is well worth it.

Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
But it ISN'T risk free. I started having blood pressure trouble.
But, it stopped my insomnia in its tracks and I hadn't slept in 7 weeks. Maybe 10 minutes a night. 'Sudden severe onset menopause' it's called or something.'
50 years ago I'd have been institutionalized, the way I was acting.
My BHRT was a cream that I applied to my skin, and I was allowed to adjust the dosage if I felt I needed to.
It's a shame that so many doctors aren't willing to go off-big pharmas and get their patients alternative help.
