I am mom to 3 kids aged 16-21. My 18 year old son got caught with weed in his system in school in 2007 and his and our lives have been torn apart by "the system". Now my daughter 16 was pulled into the office one month ago and I was forced to have her tested under "suspicion".
She admitted to having smoked week at a party a week prior. The THC is still in her system and she is going to fail every subject due to lost time in school. She can not return until her urine is clean and we are being forced to get her treatment. I know that weed is illegal and I also know that certain people have the predisposition to become addicted, but I feel completely frustrated by my school districts way of handling this. They are setting the kids up for failure and creating the notion in their minds that they are addicts because they have smoked week here and there with other students at various parties in town. I just do not know where to turn and I'm not sure if my head is in the sand here! My kids are productive people that I do NOT consider to be anything more than teens making stupid choices to have fun with other teens making stupid choices. I have been forced to spend thousands of dollars to date on mandated 12 panel drugs screens, counceling and in my son's case, legal fees as he was caught in his car with 4 other kids with weed. The local police profile any kid that has ever tested positive for weed through the schools system and follow them around. They also harrass them in school by pulling them into the resource officer's office to question them about the comings and goings and with whom. Any words here to help me. Do my kids really have serious drug problems. How do I know the difference? I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum and please feel free to direct me to somewhere more appropriate if it is. I'm just a mom trying to stand up for my kids and do what's best for them and our family.

Also want to note, my dissatisfaction with weed did not come from reefer madness videos, but my own life.

I really dont think your kids are addicts ; & thats really wrong how their being treated, i dont understand why they dont pay for drug tests, and other stuff that they may need since their the ones making such big deals over it... i sorta consider myself a recovering addict.. i couldnt go a day without smoking it. i still want to every so often. but if your kids arent smoking it all the time.. & their not letting it get in the way of other things then no ; i dont think their addicts :] i am really sorry about your situation though

Clarified, The person asked a question and people gave there advise so what is your problem. And look at the age's, I think I have smoked longer then you. Not everyone can be as strong as you need to stop, so ease up on people.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
