Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is now one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the U.S. Lyme disease is caused by infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is primarily transmitted to humans as well as dogs, horses and other domesticated animals by the bite of infected ticks.
Both my white blood cells and platelets are below normal and dropping. Does anybody know if the antibiotic effect the white blood cells?

if anything antiboitcs should help to improve wbc. WBC are released when the body is trying to fight something off. Lymes effects the immune system so it's pretty commn for lymes paitents to have low immune systems. Antiboitcs should bring out the lymes from hiding and help to make your immune system release more wbcs to help fight it off. Hope ya get feelng better soon, lymes really sucks

I've not heard of Lyme impacting the WBCs that way, but I have heard of a new study suggesting that long-term antibiotics may trigger anemia (RBCs). Best wishes, Georgia

Hello there.I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with lyme disease.I haven't heard about the effect on white blood cells, but too much antibiotics can cause anemia, so antibiotics aren't recommended for long-term use.I know a better treatment.I was a Lyme disease patient once, after few years, I found out a serial herb medicine which called DR ZHANG.
