Plantar fascitis and ossitron therapy

My podiatrist wants to do a sound wave shock treatment on my heels for plantar fascitis. I have a lot of pain in my heels. I take Celebrex for it but with not much relief. Have had 12 Physical therapy treatments with ultrasound for the first 6 treatments. I have orthotics that I wear all the time. I have had cortisone shots 2 times in both heels. My rheumatoligist ordered an antiinflamitory gel form feet too, but I havent noticed much difference. She also had me increase the Medrol back to 4mg. 3 times a week along with the 2mg the other days. I was just taking 2 mg per day. I also take Plaquenil. Lately, my hair has started to fall out again and I have rib pain if you just touch me. Have any of you had the ossitron treatment? How did it work?

I work for podiatrist and have plantar fasciitis myself. The ossatron treatmentworks very well for most people. If your insurance will pay for it, go for it, since it is non-invasive, it is easier to recover from. I was not eligible for the Ossatron, so I had the open plantar fascia release. That surgery is fairly easy too, but involves cutting the fascia to release it. This surgery takes a lot longer to recover from. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Julie, Thanks so much. I havent met anyone who has had it. In fact, Most people I talk to have never heard of it! I recently had a surgery on another part of my body that made my problem worse, so I am glad to hear my podiatrist is going in the right direction.

How does this treatment work for people with autoimmune disorders? Is there a difference in outcome that you know of?

I unfortunately don't know about any other disorders our patients may have, as I haven't taken the time to study the correlation. Not sure how having Lupus effects the outcome of the ossatron. Having the procedure done can't hurt you, since it is non-invasive and should be worth a try for you. Many of our patients say all or most of the pain is gone almost immediately after the ossatron is done. Some of them do not, and the procedure is re-done. If I had the opportunity to have an ossatron procedure done, I would have done it in a heartbeat.

    Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax.
