Lupus Support Group
Lupus is an auto-immune disease in which the immune system cannot distinguish between threats (like viruses and bacteria), and healthy cells and tissue. As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus.

I'm wondering if someone can explain to me what their pain feels like in their lungs if they happen to be affected by their disease?! When asked by the rheumatologist if I had pain when I breathed deep I said no but I get a different kind of discomfort mostly on the left side almost in the middle of my chest. It's a tight, heavy feeling that varies in severity. Sometimes it makes it hard for me to catch my breath and it's worsened if I climb stairs etc..
Any thoughts?

I am on this site because my 16 year old daughter has lupus, so I'm looking to learn all I can. She was diagnosed in October and has not gone into remission yet. Not sure if this will help, but She has pain in her chest when she takes deep breathes or exercises. The doctor said that's normal at this point. What lead us to a diagnosis and hospital was the disease affecting her lungs and heart. (other symptoms as well but this put her in the hospital) She had constant chest pain, heart rate over 120 and a fever for over 24 hours. The hospital gave her pain treatment, but her heart rate stayed over 120 for 4 days until she was diagnosed and treatment began. Lupus was causing inflammation around most of her organs....every case is different. And talk with your doctor, but that's how the disease has/is affecting my daughter's lungs/organs.

Hello, I was diagnosed with costiocondritis a few months ago and I get this type of pain a lot. My doc who has check my heart and lungs, kidneys, spleen and liver all said they were good but I still get this pain. With the fibro and lupus, there is a point that can be aggravated by the flares that can cause this pain. I would still push your doc to make sure everything else is fine. Mine comes often at night after I have been chasing my toddler and lifting her a lot. I hope this helps. Also a heating pad helps me or putting some wintergreen and frankincense oil on my breast bone helps. I use Doterra essential oils because their quality is amazing. I hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you have questions.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
