I met my partner on another message board forum similar to DS. I live in PA, he lives in NC. We met in-person about 7 months after talking on-line and by phone every day. He has a summer beach house in NJ so that's were we decided to met for the first tiime and spent a week together. I've been traveling back and forth from PA to NC every fews months for the past 4 1/2 years. I will be moving to NC sometime after this coming June and before 2012 is over with.

I was scared in the beginning that things wouldn't work out also but I think those are fears we all face because of the distance. I didn't fear being alone, I had no intentions of getting into another relationship at that time, we were just on-line friends but our friendship grew into more.

If you're both determined to make it work, you both put forth the effort, know what you both want, there's nothing peventing it from working.

I met mine (J) in college and lost my virginity to him. We had this really intense chemistry which manifested in a physical relationship at that time. We bonded, but we were not in love with each other - more like lust. We both knew he was leaving at the end of the school year anyway.
So, I married a jerk and decided last fall that it was time to get out of the abusive marriage. Around that time, J and I reconnected via fb and fell for each other right away - separated by the whole country. I was shocked at the feelings that hit me like a truck when we started talking. THIS guy was the one? Really? Eighteen years after we fooled around? Wow. So, we've had 4 visits with each other, I am in the middle of divorce, which I was already headed for and would be doing anyway, even w/o J. We'll see each other again next month. I hope and pray every day for a real life together!

I met my SO in NYC at a Biffy Clyro gig. He's originally from Scotland (now lives in GA) and I in NJ. We only spent one night together before our first proper visit and decided to give things a go. The rest, as they say, is history. We've been together about a year and a half now and will be getting married November of next year. I'll be moving to him sometime in the summer.

It hasn't always been easy (we even broke up once), but these situations NEVER are. If you both are willing to do what it takes to make things work, then you'll be okay. I wish you both the very best in the New Year. :)

I met my boyfriend at a horror convention in 2007 and we became friends instantly, we talked all the time, and just got really close. Then in 2009 we started dating officially.

My SO was my cousins best friend. I spent my 14th birthday at my cousins house where we met and spent most of the night just hanging out and talking. 2 years later we reconnected and just started talking online and eventually on the phone, realized we were in love and began visiting each other after about 7 months or so. Because he lives where my family lives I was up there pretty frequently anyways for holidays and such, after 4 years with him in NY and I in FL we now live together :)

how I met my fianc is a long story, but i will try and keep it short! lol..a old friend of mine bf (who lives in a different country) decided to try and hook me up with one of his friends. However, at the time I really was not interested in talking to the guy and I didnt email him.. i did not try to communicate with this guy at all. My friend at the time decided to take a trip over to see her bf and I decided to go along for the trip (my first time out of the country). So while we were there visiting her bf, there were some of his friends over and the guy that they initially tried to hook me up with showed up and when we saw each other it was like an instant attraction..I had never felt that way abt any guy b4..we were together everyday on that trip and when I went back home we talk everyday since..I went back to his country and visited him a month ago and it was very hard leaving again. We r working on getting married soon.

I met Richard through friends at a hookah bar...for the going away party right before he moved to Hawaii. It kinda sucked realizing that he was leaving the next day.
But we started talking on Facebook and texting, then calling and Skyping each other more often. Eventually he said he wanted to take me out to dinner and that I needed to come visit him in Hawaii. So, I did :)

I met my girlfriend on Xbox live. During the last few days of December 2011. I asked for her number because I could see she was in the same province (state) as me so she did end up texting me and we just hit it off really well and then on January 3rd 2012 she asked me to be her boyfriend. she lives 4 hours from me and she is coming to visit me next weekend I'm so happy. We get to be alone for 3 or 4 days it's going to be amazing. (We are both 20).

We met at work. Really dint talk for almost 2 month, then we hit it off and been together ever since.

My girlfriend and I were actually best friends from the moment she moved in next door to me at the age of twelve. We lived basically under the same roof for three years and began dating around nine months before she moved a couple hours away, seven months ago. After four years of having her live within a dozen yards of me, it's been no less than hell. We see one another once every few months and plan on moving in with each other once we're eighteen and steady on our feet.

We're young, yeah. But, I figure that if we have the infallible strength to go through something like this together, then we'll have the very same strength to beat the odds and spend the rest of our lives with each other.

We actually met on here............ :@ lol Its been kind of rocky..... We're broken up right now, but trying to re-build the relationship, starting with the friendship. We've only seen eachother once within knowing eachother over a year and half. I want to see him over thanksgiving break hopefully, but I don't know how that will go.... I don't know. I think i'm going to surprise him otherwise :)

we met working on a cruise ship together. spent about two weeks on the same ship before i was put on another ship within the company in which time i feel for him pretty hard, but didn't tell him nor did i admit it to myself. we finished our contracts and stayed for 3 days in orlando. then we didn't see each other for 18months but stayed in contact and got to know each other as friends. in october 2009 he came over here and we decided that we wanted to be together despite the distance, and it has grown ever since.
