Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

Have you ever tried a meetup group in your area? I do a lot of things on my own. Done it for so long I don't mind.
I don't mind my own company but I do miss people. I should look at meetups even something like a walking or theatre group. I've thought about it. I feel a little shy/fearful.
Hope you're recovering well.
Every once in a while, there seems an opportunity for a friendship, however I find even if I push and force myself and act all cheery and say how their ideas are smart (even when I disagree) not a single person has ever put the effort in to even say hello afterwards.
For example, recently met a guy that is my age that I worked with that was having trouble getting his management to recognize his value. I offered to help, go to lunch, would try to engage conversation... Once I asked about his hobbies, what he liked to do, he went on for 30 minutes which was good because I prefer to listen over talking. He invited me to join him, so said yes.
Never heard from him again. Tried several times to start a conversation but nothing.
Every once in a while i also suggest on this forum that we as lonely people should be friendly, like find someplace to have group conversations that aren't about loneliness. It's should make it easier for the shy amidst us as it's online, but also there is understanding what we are all going through. It might just be the jumpstart we need to feel confident about finding offline friends, or at least take the bite out of loneliness if we can chat live or even if we can't make it at the same time it's still something to fall back on. Not sure why, but it never seems to pan out
I like your idea about a group to chat. From reading posts, I'm learning that d.s ( and this loneliness group) is not as busy as it once was, which is a shame as it could be the perfect place. I'm happy to get involved in other discussions. We could try to get this group busier, do an off topic post or start a community group? I'm new so not that familiar with how things work here.
