Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I am on a few different boards, but I finally decided to join this one because I don't think I have felt this lonely in a very long time. I am 43 years old, married, and I have a 10 year old son. I don't want to go on too much about my family life, but it is far from perfect. My son is my life and he is an amazing child, but has some neurological issues which makes it very difficult to lead a "normal" life. I think that because he is not happy in school and feels like he has no friends, it has started to make me feel the same.
I really have no friends that I hang out with. I have a best friend who lives far away, so I never see her. My other friends are more like acquaintences (sp). We never go anywhere with friends and when I do go over someone's house from school, my husband never comes with us. It is just me and my son.
It is a very lonely feeling, when it is usually just me and my son doing everything. My husband rarely joins in any of our activities and we have very little family time. I see everyone going out with friends and doing sports together, etc.
I know a lot of people and talk to people, but I guess I feel alone because no one really seeks me out to spend time with me. I don't think I have gone out with friends in years. I think it is hard for me to explain and that is why I feel so alone. I just want to be happy and it is so hard. No one really knows what I am going through. I keep a lot to myself, but what I do share, people don't really understand.
I was part of Alanon for a while and had a sponsor, but even she has kind of abandoned me. I have no family locally and I work part time as a substitute teacher, so I am never in one place. My son does not have a lot of friends that call him to play so I feel so bad for him. I just want all of us to be happy, and I don't know how to get there.
I am sorry for the long post, I was just typing as I was thinking.

I know this is stupid, but after not being able to find a job after graduation for almost two years, I ended up just taking an online teaching job because I couldn't find anything in my field. I was trying to get out of teaching and I feel so devastated. I felt this crushing feeling when I signed the paperwork and when I was in the meetings. I know that sounds so dramatic but it is how I felt. It...

Tomorrow is National Massachusetts Day!Have you ever lived in or visited Massachusetts? If so, tell us what's great about the Bay State!

For your son, I would try meetup.com (I think it's called) I'm sure they have something available for kids (and adults) to where your son can make as many friends as he wants. Him finding kids his age to be around is real important for him to do, especially while he is young. There are also church "kids groups" he can make lots of friends there too. I'd look up 30 or more churches if u want and get him as involved as u can with each one you find that has what he''d like. He'll have so many friends, and his phone ringing off the hook, he wont know what to do with them all. That's what he needs right now, is to, have so many friends that he doesnt know what to do with them all.
Hope u get the support u and your son need here.
Well, looking into a brighter future, you are here and I wish you connect with people.
