Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...
Hey yall! Im new to the group and wanted to reach out. Im a student in the school of social work at the University of Memphis and I'll be a senior after this semester. I've been a stay at home mom the last 3 years since daycare for 2 was way too costly. I've spent these 3 years going back to college to get my bachelors degree so I can get a job that will help my family when I can work again. Unfortunately all the lcasses have been online classes and between that and coming out of the work force I have felt super isolated. I enjoy being with my children most of the time but I do miss the interaction with other adults. A professor suggested this site to get connected with a support group so....here I am.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
My local library was a God Send as it had several programs for young children that gave me a break...they had a whole section that was for children only. The other was a church group of mothers, not religion, just a group of Moms.
How Wonderful that you are reaching out for something for YOU!!! and your future once your kids are in school.
As for the expense of childcare, do you know any other Mom's who might like to do a sort of barter of taking your kids, you taking their kids so you can have some free time during the week just to take a bath Alone with no little feet or knocking hands on the bathroom door???
I'm 70 now, and feel alone with no family or friends...cultivate them now while you are young!!! gets so much harder as you age.
Peace and Healing To You, Yours and To The World At Large <3
I did some of my MSW courses online and it was pretty blah. The professors did not teach, it was teach. yourself so I spent a lot of hours at home, alone, teaching myself. Thirty hours per week alone at home, writing those APA style papers they expect and doing the reading. My sister told me graduate school is usually teach yourself, she is an accountant.
Will you do your internship soon? That will be a lot of being around people. It is not really friendship though. Hard work for no pay. I have both the bachelors and masters degree in social work. Am still licensed but retired. If you can afford it, get your masters in social work immediately after bachelors. Harder to find jobs with just the BSW. And if you wait too long, they make you do two internships for the MSW, and double the research classes and the policy classes. I waited too long so I mention this.
