I keep hearing this saying that Looks does not matter what matters is whats inside??
Well I think that s crap.
I feel only looks matters in this world because good looking guys always have it easy for them wherever they go no matter even if they are the meanest people.
They are never alone have friends,have someone who loves them,get invited everywhere even if they don't give a shit.
I am not saying I am ugly or something but lately I have felt that if I was one of those good looking guys how my life would have been?
I would have had genuine friends,I would have had the love of my life...
But sadly that ain't gonna happen...

Just needed to vent....

@#30 I can live with that because I am getting better looking with age :P Turned 46 last week and I must say I am getting a lot more women that actually approach me at this age then when I was 21-35 and at this age they actually are nice. I think that is because of all the shit they have gone through to this point. My current girlfriend is 50 and could not be any more sweeter and that makes me happy because she is beautiful and doesnt care about the bull shit!!! :P

If looks were everything, if looks guaranteed you happiness, why do all the movie stars, models, entertainers, etc. who have super looks & lots of sex appeal, often wind up divorcing multiple times, getting addicted to drugs, and other indications of unhappiness and inner emptiness?

Ok, so I have a photo of Olivier Martinez on my refrigerator door! And it's not because he's ugly. BUT I know what's fantasy and what would work for me in real life. I love my friends, some of whom are older, bald, or obese. Good looks get people in the door, so to speak, but it takes character to maintain the relationship.

In my opinion, I agree with what Livingwater said, "looks get people in the door". It is very true! Looks do matter. Of course they are not enough for the long run, but initially that is all that matters. If you put an attractive and a not so attractive woman together in whatever social situation, the attractive one will get hit on just because she is attractive. She may be brilliant or not, but that initially doesn't matter. I have met men who have been with women who are not great catches by any means, only because of their looks. Looks matter, and it sucks that they matter so much!

I think there is a lot of stuff thats been said here that I agree with. I think that when you make a connection with someone really special on an emotional level, and especially if you have really enjoy each others company, it usually doesn't matter whether at first sight you may not have thought them really good looking. The attraction can develop with time. So I think you have to make good friends and you will find one, unplanned, with whom to want to share more, and all being well, you will!

I understand how you feel. Our society has been conditioned to value people with good looks. I often wish people would see me for who I am inside. You have probably heard the expression that you can't just a book by it's cover. Good looking people may make a good first impression but if that's all that's there then people will move on as soon as they find out what's beneath. It's most important that you love yourself and and know your self worth then maybe someone out there will take notice.
