Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. thanks for sharing. I can relate to your story somewhat in that I was uprooted at an early age from my home and all my friends and had to come to a strange land and try to fit in and assimilate.
My conundrum was that "home" wouldn't really be home if I ever went back, because to me, home is not so much about the physical place, but the relationships and social network you had. But those are long gone and the people are spread far and wide, leaving me with nothing.
So I guess my words for you would be - if you were able to go back today, are those people still there waiting for you, or are they all just memories? If they are there waiting for you, then I hope you can find a way to go back.
If they aren't, then consider forming new groups and friendships where you are now. It's never too late to start. Otherwise it's going to be one lonely road no matter where you are.
My sincere sympathy. I can imagine how you must feel, I still think about my old neighborhood too---BUT I have to tell you, I DID go back to my old neighborhood and it wasn't the same. In my "head" it was, but in reality, it wasn't anymore. Carol---you have to move on. If you don't you be in trouble. What happened to me, is that I hit rock bottom mentally--I never knew what it was like to hit rock bottom, but when it happened, I knew it. That's when I knew I had to move on, forget about the past. Once I acknowledged that, then I started feeling a bit better, along with some counseling I got. Please don't go backwards--it's not there anymore. Go forward! I am a lot better since I did, and you would be too.
