Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. Loneliness is more than the feeling of wanting company or wanting to do something with another person. Loneliness is a feeling of being cut off, disconnected and alienated from other people. The lonely person may find it difficult or even impossible to have any...

I am new to this group and this website . I can very much relate to being lonely and isolated . I am a senior , married with no children . Before my accident about 15 years ago, I was professionally , physically , and socially very active . My accident took my quality of life away . I have physical challenges and limitations . I was an early bird and out mostly all day . I was independent I drove , worked , shopped, maintained my household and had an active quality of life . Except for three friends , others vanished . My only family is not an emotional support for me at all , since a few years after my accident. They have been self absorbed and selfish .I am the same person with the same heart, although I cannot physically go or do the things and places I did before . I am trying to concentrate in the people that are near and dear to me that are still in my life. If a friend or family member had a similar situation I would never turn my back on them . I would be there for them as a support and to help in any way I could . What a life's lesson this has been for me .

I'm sorry that you've had an accident that changed so much for you
I've had an experience that changed a lot for me as well so I get it
Have you talked with any of these people about how you're feeling?
It might? help
Sending a big hug....This board isn't very busy
The Depression board if what you're feeling is depression might be more helpful...xo
Anyway as SunCloud said there are some more active groups in the community groups here...check out those...some bigger ones now are mine about cooking/eating called you are what you eat....and then Lesa who passed away last year has a group that we continue to post on called Friends to the end....she is gone yes but the gal had a lot of friends here who continue to keep fun topics going there...Tess does Your Happy Place, and one about Music stuff I do not know the name of and I think the other one is Thats Entertainment which is about TV movies plays and stuff like that.....she keeps them very active too so check her stuff out....go to her profile Tess9579 is her name....and Cedarbrooke has Laughter is the best medicine which we post funny stuff on....I also have helping with the housework which is one of my challenges as bachelor is to keep at the things that I have to do as a single living in my home when I am not that much of worried about clutter as some are....I am not OCD on clutter lets just say....so I write my projects and accomplishments there....
so those are starting points here for some of the fun stuff we who have been here long term have found.....I been here since 2010...words of experience...the communinty groups that have activity are really best
How do I get to that friend’s group you mentioned please ?
Thank you

I can relate to the major life change. It happened to me in 2011, when I became very ill from a rare disorder. It sounds like you've suffered a lot of losses - not just of physical ability, but also the independence, roles, and routines that you were used to.
It's heartbreaking when people leave, simply because circumstances changed. Perhaps they lacked the capacity, empathy, or courage to remain connected when your life became more complicated. I'm glad you're focusing on those who have stuck around.

I have fragile bones and tendons and injure myself constantly. I am 67. I have bad, painful osteoarthritis and it really limits my life. I try to stay positive because I hate it when I get in the negative slump I call counting my losses. Last year was a year of losses, people, social groups, and now I am rebuilding. I feel a bit defeated at times but I decided to just keep trying even if I get sick or whatever. And not blame myself or sit in the negative. I also do the gratitude thing that others have mentioned. My husband is blind and takes an Uber using his iPhone by himself more than I take him to appointments because he likes to stay independent which makes him feel more in control of his life. HA HA
I have been trying to respond to everyone here, but I keep getting an error message.
Maybe I will be able to send this now.
Have a good afternoon .
