I am new to this group and this website . I can very much relate to being lonely and isolated . I am a senior , married with no children . Before my accident about 15 years ago, I was professionally , physically , and socially very active . My accident took my quality of life away . I have physical challenges and limitations . I was an early bird and out mostly all day . I was independent I drove , worked , shopped, maintained my household and had an active quality of life . Except for three friends , others vanished . My only family is not an emotional support for me at all , since a few years after my accident. They have been self absorbed and selfish .I am the same person with the same heart, although I cannot physically go or do the things and places I did before . I am trying to concentrate in the people that are near and dear to me that are still in my life. If a friend or family member had a similar situation I would never turn my back on them . I would be there for them as a support and to help in any way I could . What a life's lesson this has been for me .

I'm happy about myself and the choice I made to get myself back up to getting better but I would have wished for a better support system that actually lives up to standards and met expectations. Meh... sometimes it's not worth mentioning and pointless to mention but then that's why it's called depression because damn if you do and damn if you don't.
