In thinking this over ...not sure if this is suited for this group...but I needed to get some of this out into the air ,,,for me !!!!

I think something in his mind just snapped. He probably doesn't know rationally why he did what he did. It is so tragic for the victims and his family.

No one could have seen this coming. I don't think anyone could of prevented it. When a mind snaps all rationality is lost.

We may never know the truth. It is something that you can never make sense of.

No I think you are right in posting this.It is so scary that something as everyday as going to a movie could turn into a living nightmare.The part thet makes me really angry is that he was reported to have a really big high power gun,there was a picture of it on Facebook and just the clip for this gun is huge.Why are such weapons even for sale?You wouldn't want to use a gun like that for hunting(maybe elephants)so what purpose do these guns serve?Handguns are scary enough ,I can't imagine something bigger.I suppose legislating for more control of all guns might help but I suppose there will always be someone who will misuse them.It is just too sad!

They said he did not use any weapon that would fire repeatedly. I am against total gun control, but they said he bought all 4 of the weapons w/in 60 days. They can't cross reference that?

I got to thinking ..that this is far more scary than 9/11...cause this happened very internally with absolutely no overt modivation,,,at least the Oklahoma City attack was something attributed to a freakish right wing paranoia,,,this is by someone you work with, go to school with, go shopping with, go to a bar with, if you read some of the accounts of people who knew this guy,,,there was no indication of anything whatsoever ,,,One doesn't wake up in the morning and his head just snaps like that ,,,for no apparent reason,,,could there have been some drugs in his system ???,,nothing has come out on that one ,,,

He was a very intelligent guy,,,a Ph.d candidate in Neuro-Science,,,I am sure that one doesn't just get to be a nutjob having that kind of academic background ..that is far far too easy.

I heard that his parents (mother) said you have the right guy!

I am a gun owner and I never like to see gun crimes...it is sad...I hunt...but I never hurt anyone in life with a gun....just ain't going to happen....I couldn't even be a soldier....was not physically fit to join military....also was drugged out then in the years I would have enlisted....

I think of one of the other factors on this....Hollywood takes a big hit on this one....it was to be the biggest movie ever and this happens on the first day of its release....they are going to lose money over this incident however the loss of life is much more valuable than anything hollywood would ever have earned income wise....sadly the world took a hit today....France has pulled showing this movie now....

I too am extremely troubled by the randomness of it all. Anyone could just be going about their lives doing innocent everyday things and something could happen. Truly disturbing, not to be able to trust or think you know your fellow humans. In general, I don't have a sense of mistrust but this certainly is enough to make a person very nervous.

Watching the stories from Aurora were very disturbing and sad. Is no place safe any more? It is just plain senseless.

Just because there is no history of him going to the doctor, it doesn't mean he is not sick. He sort of reminds me of Ted Kaczynski, super smart, but hated everyone in the world for some reason. Often people who are the sickest, don't want to be treated. There has always been questions about the effectiveness of treatment in the case of anitsocial personality disorder.
Also, I think it's like terrorism, you can't stop living your life, because of the incident. It could have happened in any public place. This is just on a larger scale. Look at the Virginia Tech shooting, it is the same situation.
I am sure they will get to the bottom of this. Sometimes what makes someone so dangerous snap would be something like our own bad experiences a break-up, being bullied at school, child abuse, etc. We try to work it out, because we are normal.
In this case, you have a very intelligent individual who decides that the world has wronged him and everyone in the world should pay.
Obviously, I have read too many true crime novels.

Also, I think it is scary what you can order over the internet.

over 6000 rounds of ammunition..explosive chemicals, assault weapons etc,,,and no one seemed in the least suspicious,,,something is wrong !!

I can not make any sense out of the shooting. I do know that the people with the highest level of intelligence are the loneliest people in the world. They r the ones with social problems and never in relationships because they already know the downfall to them is more pain than what it's worth when something goes wrong. I think the shooter acted this exact thing out. U cant escape who u r and this is just the type of person the shooter is. He has always been this way and he will always continue to be this way. Or he could be a demon in human form. His mother did know something. She did say to the police,, "Yes I think u do have the right person".

I've been sick about this since I heard the news and it was one of my worst fears come true. I have issues with worrying about shootings as it is and won't take my child to many public places due to this (before any of this happened).

My mom told me something helpful today -while these tragedies are just awful, she really believes that when it is "your time"...it is "your time". Nothing you can do can prevent the day from coming so just live your life and be free (and of course be careful when and where you can). Evil exists in our world but there is not a whole lot we can do to stop it. I suppose if everyone did their part and reached out to those who are hurting in any way possibly we cold turn a bad person into a good one. Someone like this guy in CO is just pure evil...

What healings said is so true, we can be careful, but when it is our time, it is our time and only God gets to choose that. Meanwhile live to the fullest and best of our ability and let our good shine through.

I actually have a friend who lives in Denver and almost went to that theater, but decided not to 30 min. before it happened, thank god is all I can say.
