Loneliness Support Group
Loneliness is an emotional state in which a person experiences a powerful feeling of emptiness and isolation. I slept all day today to almost 4pm because I was up all night in ER with back pain....
I'm surprised that Bill didn't mention about Meetup groups as a place to meet folks as I've often seen him comment about them in other discussions. Go to www.meetup.com and put in your town and how far you're willing to drive ~ you'll likely see all kinds of interesting groups that you can join. I live in an area of small towns in Southern Oregon and there's 48 groups within 10 miles and 89 groups within 25 miles of where I live!
Unfortunately because I have a serious chronic fatigue illness I don't have the energy to go out an do things with people in person. I do know some gals who have a lot of fun doing activities with some of the local Meetup groups ~ I see their photos on Facebook so I know the groups are very active. There's social groups sometimes just for women if you don't want to get involved in any kind of "dating" energy ~ though a lot of times the social singles groups say that they're to have fun and not necessarily to meet to date. There's hiking,, photography, vegetarian dining, card games ~ all kinds of fun activities.
I think it's much less lonely actually meeting people and doing things in person and making friends rather than just writing messages on DS and Facebook as I've been doing today. But writing messages to friends online to me still beats watching TV alone! Best wishes to you Barbara ~ and KittKai, Bill and Enigmaticloner ~ hope that you're able to connect and find something more fun to do next weekend!
Anyway yes meetup.com is cool....I am an organizer of singles over 50 in my city,....it does cost me money so I am stepping out of that role in Dec.....my assistant will take over the group...she is nice but I think the group could use some one new to be organizer...but as long as it is not me I will be a member but no more of that organizer role...
Yes, Sundays are lonely!!!
