My lactose intolerance started when I was a teenager. Mine was hereditary.
Back then, no one knew what it was.
Nowadays, there are so many lactose-free foods, drinks (try almond milk or soy milk or oat milk), and even Lactaid (Lactaid milk, and Lactaid tablets you can take to help digest any dairy food).
Food choices are so much better now. I would suggest Google for "lactose intolerant diet". Try some new foods.... do a little at a time. Hopefully you will find some new, yummy foods! I was surprised to find out that certain cheeses are perfectly fine to eat!
You are not alone! I have read many times that adults are not meant to digest cow's milk past childhood! :-)
