I have been dating someone for five months, and I am very happy with him.
But when I think about his ex, it makes me upset.
They broke up two years ago. But their relationship was serious. And I have seen old conversations between them on his facebook timeline.
He talked to her in a way that was similar to the way he talks to me. And he said things like "always and forever."
I don't usually have problems with jealousy.
But when I see these conversations or think about them together, I feel sad.
I guess I worry that because he talked to her the way he talks to me, I may not be unique. And because things didn't work out between them, even though he thought it would last forever, maybe things won't work out between us.
I don't know.
But I don't feel like this is a normal reaction. And it's making me feel ashamed of myself.
Does anyone have any advice for me? How do I get past these sad feelings?

Well your feelings are wrong because that sounds normal to me. He might just be tone deaf and talks to all women he likes the way that feels most comfortable. Your fooling yourself if you don't think your acting naturally because you probably love him or want to. I know it feels like it's everything, but it's just a relationship, real jealousy is essentially going to any length for your desire, regardless of their say and it sucks a whole lot in the process. Don't take that as me saying yours is fake, cause I know it's not, but give him and yourself some space in your own way, and he might just happen to find a new tone only for you. The main ingredient in elimination of damaging jealousy is knowing it's doing more harm than good, usually to anyone involved, and will make the person or people irritated by it as a reaction show hatred. Basically jealousy isn't worth it even if you know you could and want to love them. In hindsight you'll see, though it is driven by a sense of love, it's not when seen in a different light. My only explanation for acquiring jealousy, is I was a bit selfish and obsessive, usually the opposite of what most call love, and also I thought that is what women want. Obviously I was wrong but still think it was in my plan to do so, for only God knows why. It's another person's answer if they hear or listen to your invitation to make a pair, and you just have to kind of deal with it when it turns out to be not true. Your really doing nothing wrong and kind of loving really hard as well, you should be patting yourself on the back. I think there is a deeper set of answers you need to find on the inside, about this person though, get him to open up, he'll change if he really loves you. You sound to smart to allow jealousy, petty might I add but equally as serious,to be keeping you from a drama free life, so take things for what they are, and if it gets to bad walk away, again he'll follow if he really thinks your the one, so this is really not even your problem, unless you had to keep anything else private for your own personal reasons. I find alot of peace being alone anyway, and not getting what I wanted actually allowed me to add on to my life in ways beyond marrying the most wanted woman in the world, in my fucked opinion at the time. After I dealt with the jealousy I saw I would have made it a match fit for hell and I really fucking hate that bitch. So it ended up being a win-win for me to tell the truth. It was more fascination than care or love, but it was a major problem. I now wish that woman was never born, but that is my problem, not her's, much to her disbelief if she were to hear or read it, so "fuck it" is the best I got out of jealousy, not a very ggod end to the means. You don't sound like you want that, so give yourself what you need not to be jealous, even if it means you might not get anything in return towards your favor. It could be said the jealous use their desires to the point of controlled manipulation, that's a little harsh in my opinion, but it is a form of control and does push people away, sometimes for good, it can be that serious and also very painful even years after the closure or acceptance of the mistake(s) made. If I weren't so annoying I'd tell you more but life is to short to focus on the or not forget the past if you can so learn from that, and love people before you choose to claim jealousy, it's not for everyone, trust me, your better than being jealous and it stunts development and grow as
