I have been sharing some portions of my jealousy issues. I try to keep log of how many jealous thoughts I have in a day. My issues were also with his dog and I did not grow up around a dog. It seemed quite a weird or unlikely thing at first. I loved the dog and bonded. Somehow slowly I started projecting inappropriate behaviour with his dog which was not true. He was just stretching her feet. My own childhood issues of abuse with caretakers probably affected my projections. I got out of that to now feeling jealous of his affections for his female dog. If he would pet her or be affectionate I would get upset. Over time I started to feel that the dog was a competition for me. We had several fights on this. Unfortunately the dog who was very old fell more ill and died.
I felt much remorse around this. The dog was old anyways and he was being nice and loving to her. I got really jealous though.
And then I feel afraid that if I have children, I might feel jealous of his affection for a child especially a female one. Ridiculous but I fear this!
I don't seem to know how to let go of this possessiveness.

I then went to one of my sessions and told her about it, and her reply was "Why would you want to focus on all the bad stuff all day long?"
Good point, instead of writing about the jealousy triggers, write how you dealt with it in a good way, so you have a list of all the areas you have improved on, or are working on!
I think i should have read this thread before the other one with regards to the sexual abuse.
I think your right, your abuse has confused the way you see love and attention.
I know you cant see it right now, but it is far more liberating and up lifting to let them be, let go.
He is his own person with his own thoughts, i understand you wanting to control him like a puppet , but he's not a puppet, you cant choose who he loves and doesn't love.
Your control of him comes from the lack of control you had as a child.
And my husband promised to treat me to a special dinner out when I make five jealousy-free days in row:)
thank you or your suggestions. They are really helping me shift how I put my effort into this.
I am trying to remember to not get into controlling tendencies and it is helping me.
Thanks.
