How did it go today Mich?

Hi Ladies...well I had a conf call for work this morning so by the time I finished that and then packed up lunch and snacks for my son to take with us to the indoor gym (his last day of spring break was today) and then got to the lab, it was already 11:30 and there were a ton of people waiting for blood tests. My RE's office called near the end of the day & asked for the lab's phone # ... they then called back to tell me the lab wouldn't have the results until tomorrow. And so,,,I will just have to wait another day. Thank you all for checking in :-) xo

After gettng a BFN last month with POAS, couldn't do it again...plus it was spring break and easter wkend and I was entertaining for easter so just too busy.

RE's office just called...good news and bad news. Yes, i'm pregnant which is wonderful but it looks like multiples which means I'll have to pay for a reduction. And, I'm still a bit miffed at my RE for not insisting I do PIO shots the first time around as opposed to suppositories b/c even with him discounting his fee, I still had to pay an extra 2k for the 2nd FET. Oh well, I know I'll let it go in time but ...

As for #s, HCG 596, Estrace 119 and Progesterone 59

However, I should have been tested on Sunday but as labs are closed on Sun, testing was done a day late. Still when I was pregnant with twins, my HCG was 154 and then went up to 518 so my # now is higher on the day before the 2nd HCG test than it was on the day of the 2nd HCG test for the girls.
But, at least it looks like this will stick this time around!

Wow awesome BETA, congrats! I was initially preggo w/ twins but lost one very early on, so who knows this may happen for you and you won't have to pay for a reduction. When will you have a 2nd beta, or will you not have one because this one was so strong?

Wow, great numbers, Congratulations! I was briefly reading through the thread and your body doesn't easily absorb the progesterone? Is this something specific fo you, or does your RE think the shots are just better. I've always taken the suppositories combined with a pill form of progesterone. My RE doesn't think there is a difference, but now I'm just curious for a second opinion.

When will you go in for your next beta?

Laurie, I know you weren't asking me, but I'll let you know what my RE says regarding progesterone. He used to feel that the Crinone and suppositories were just as good as the PIO shots, but he then had a few patients have early miscarriages that were were using crinone or suppositories and that wasn't happening with the PIO patients, so he switched his protocol to PIO only 'till way after the pregnancy had progressed. Not fun, but he seems to get much better results this way. I forget how many weeks along I was before he let me switch to Crinone, but it was quite a few. Yvonne

I know it sounds horrible but I really hope I do lose one early on b/c I can't do twins again...and this time as a single mom...especially with 3 other kids...just impossible. There were 2 other ladies in my DE group who got pg with twins a few months after me and both lost the twin but my twins stuck. I have a feeling this donor has incredible eggs. I truly believe if I had done PIO shots instead of suppositories that I wouldn't have lost my last pg.
Yes, I will have my 2nd beta tomorrow and will do so earlier in the day so I should have results by the end of the day. Hoping it's less than 1000. They still need to see how much it goes up so they can see if the pg is progressing normally.
My RE does think there's a huge difference in the absorption rate of progesterone depending on how you take it. Shots guarantee it gets absorbed. Suppositories aren't as good ... forget the reason but it makes sense to me that you know exactly what you're getting with a shot. Progesterone is what keeps the pg during the 1st trimester. After that, the placenta is developed enough so that you don't need the extra progesterone. I did switch to suppositories with my girls but I think it wasn't until after my exam during week 7 so I had already been doing the shots for 5 weeks. Hoping to do the same this time around. Plus, as you get older, and I am older, your body produces less progesterone on it's own so you need even more help. That's why I'm a bit annoyed at my RE b/c he knew I was older and his protocol is PIO shots. If he had just said to me, I think your chances of keeping the pg are better with the shots b/c suppositories don't absorb as well and your body makes less progesterone as you get older, I for sure would have done the shots the 1st time around. But, now I know :-)

Mich - Any news on the 2nd beta?

I think I may ask my RE about the PIO shots....the only time I remember having low progesterone was during a natural pregnancy. My RE has me use the suppository twice a day combined with an oral progesterone. I'm not sure if I need to move to PIO, but its definitely something to look into.

Oops, posted 2nd beta results on my "update" instead of here. Need to listen to message again on my cell but it almost tripled ... went up to 1514 I think so I'm thinking it should stick this time around.
Laurie, yes, I'd ask about PIO shots. I so wish my RE had insisted i do them with 1st FET b/c I feel 100% sure that's the reason why my preg didn't stick the first time and even with his discount, I had to shell out another 2500 for 2nd FET.
Next hurdle, is it multiples. I think I'm going to start journaling again as I did with my last pregnancy.

Will you do another beta or wait for the ultrasound? Speaking of, did they give you an ultrasound date?

No need to do another beta with it being so high. Ultra sound is on Tues, 4/16...about 10 days from now. Hoping to see only one! What's going on with your cycle Laurie?

Looks like I'm triggering tonight or tomorrow so retrieval will be either Monday or Tuesday. As I was sitting getting my blood drawn I was facing the wall where they keep all the files and I immediately saw a file labeled "Donor Physical's". I've never noticed it before, it was like a big tease, lol. I'm not holding out much hope for this cycle. I should know the outcome by the 25th. I just hope I don't get a call for a donor before then.

I'm happy that your numbers are so good! Beta's are tricky...hopefully there is only one very determined bean in there!
