Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Support Group
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common intestinal disorder that is characterized by bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramping, and constipation. Typically no abnormalities appear during standard medical testing, and so irritable bowel syndrome is identified by the symptoms. Although irritable bowel syndrome can cause serious discomfort, the intestines are not harmed.

Hi, I was diagnosed with Ibs and CVID which is an immune disease. I really think the two play off eachother. CVID effects the nose, lungs, skin and gastrointestinal system. So I'm not sure if CVID caused my IBS of if it just adds more problems to it. Anyway I am looking forward to being part of this group and finally talking to people who understand!

Hi ! and welcome! I'm curious what exactly does CVID stand for? I'm having chronic sinus and gastrointestinal symptoms that wont clear.I also have other auto-immune problems.I'm looking for answers for my problems and also to talk with others that can relate..:)

I'm currently being tested for a rainbow of auto immune problems. I do have ibs (though sometimes I wonder if there's more going on) and have been dx-ed with sjogren's. The reason they are testing for other things, is because of a mysterious rash that when I took medication for sjogren's it mysteriously went away but when I stopped it, the rash came back w/ a vengeance. I have chronic pain problems too and fibromyalgia. But now the doctor is wondering if there are other things that were swept under the rug or shrugged off. Nobody was ever able to give a proper diagnosis for the rashes. They ran allergy tests and things. You get the picture. Anyway, I'm just rambling at this point.

CVID is common variable immune disease or diffenciency. The test is so simply, they give you a pneumonia shot and test you on how you react to it. It is commonly misdiagnosed. If either of you have this it might explain the rashes since it effects the skin, mainly giving people malignant tumor like things on their skin, but I could see it effecting your ability to fight off a rash as well. I really hope you both find the answers, just knowing helps!

I'nm exhausted. This doxycycline thing has ripped me apart and I'm eating crackers and water. I can't take (anything) or eat (anything) except saltines and toast and maybe unbuttered watery mashed potatoes. Are we sure the cure isn't worse than the possible disease?!?!And a week to go. ***Fun cures that WERE worse than the disease:ARsenic. Popular against STDs, which just compounded misery...
