Does Tramadol give you a "high"? It never gave me a euphoric feeling which was appealing to me. I guess that's why I'm confused about the addicted part. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I just was concerned that katster felt she was addicted only after 11 days of taking it. I strongly felt that something else was wrong and her doctor overlooked it. I have heard of doctors not catching stuff because they assumed it was "this" and it turned out to be "that" and would have been taken care of but it now too late... I see hear of this happening all the time.

I wasn't trying to offend anyone and not trying to say that what is being said isn't valid, just a woman with chronic pelvic pain showing some concern and trying to help, that's all.

My reaction to Tramadol wasn't good. I was in the hospital with spinal meningist. My head was exploding. It was destroying my kidneys after 2 days of taking it.

I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my entire life, tramadol is hardly addictive, infact over the counter paracetamol plus codein is stronger.

obviously your just a troll whose on here to be ridiculous. i personally have been on tramadol for over two years a day, and its the least addictive i know. that goes for my partner too. who takes it for back pain. oh not to mention my grandma. yes it has antidepressant effects. it was actually first invented as a antidepressant, then it was discovered it was more affective as a painkiller. out of all the opiates this is the weakest one. technically it isnt a opiate its a synthetic one.

I, like many people with Rheumatoid Arthritis, have been taking Tramadol on and off for years to control pain during flares. It is a synthetic opiate. I've never had a reaction to it and I've gone off it "cold turkey" many times, never had any form of withdrawal [as is the experience of countless patients]. Admittedly, I've never been on more that 100mg daily and never longer than about 4 months.

That said, the DEA has made it a controlled substance [Schedule IV]. Tramadol is a man-made (synthetic) analgesic (pain reliever). Its exact mechanism of action is unknown, but it is similar to morphine. Like morphine, tramadol binds to receptors in the brain (narcotic or opioid receptors) that are important for transmitting the sensation of pain from throughout the body to the brain. Tramadol, like other narcotics used for the treatment of pain, may be abused.

If you are taking other drugs [e.g., antidepressants] the combination of Tramadol and that drug may not be appropriate due to the effects on serotonin levels. Removal of one of the drugs may cause some side effects.

You've had a long, hard road Katser. I remember you when you were in school. Glad you are getting relief and have a reasonably good life. My IC seemed to be viral and yeast related so have help with Biobest Astro yogurt, baking soda, Garlic, Codeine and loose clothing. This is a tough problem, and so many need help. isabelle19564 .
