It has been 3 1/2 years since my husband's affair. We have now been married 25 years. We have gone through counseling and he has answered all of my questions and changed/improved so many things that needed to be worked on. During the time since I learned of his affair I was diagnosed with PTSD from the shock of it. I had a abusive childhood and my husband was the ONLY person I trusted completely and truly believed he would never cheat. Anyway, things are much better with our marriage most of the time. Due to the PTSD I still have random flashbacks and often have nightmares that completely put me into days of depression and bad thoughts. I can't seem to shake the "funk" until it eventually goes away. Has anyone else suffered PTSD from their situation? I am looking for ways to try to stop these from happening. I have been told that they will lessen with time and they have somewhat but I am just so tired of having to deal with them. HELP!

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I tell myself to keep my head up and keep it moving....
I had PTSD from a childhood event, was treated and flashbacks were rare. Then 3 weeks ago, I found out my husband was having an emotional affair through texting. Wham, right back to square one right after the first bout of PTSD.
Now, on that note, I can say this time is far less and I am coping with daily life and the fallout of this much better. The first round taught me a lot.
I know it feels like a lifetime of flashbacks will haunt you, but they do diminish, most of your life feels normal and you can be very happy. One thing that keeps me going these days is that I know this will, for the most part, pass. I think of it like a chronic illness. It won't kill me, but now and then I will have symptoms that I know how to manage. They will be annoying symptoms, but they will pass.
Thank you for the support. :)
And it is kinda helpful because you can identify some of your feelings. That is really helpful for me because I can't fix what I don't know is broken.
