Has anyone had their CS take a lie detector test? I am considering this....because I cant trust my own instincts (since I didnt know about any of the cheating). I also may want him to do a yearly one to make sure. I dont know! Just so unsure of myself.
Yup, lie detectors are not fool proof. HOwever most of the time, when it comes to infidelity, you do catch the fool!
But most of us can use our own free lie detectors, called "instinct", and Dr. Phil's famous quote:
The future behaviors is often determined by past behaviors. So basically,if you caught them cheating before, and they still lie alot, chances are strong, that they are cheating again.
Once a cheater always? NO, not necessarily, but for the most part true, true, and they are guilty as charged...
Unless of course they do spend a significant time on rebuilding themselves, their lack of moral consciousness, and prove it thru behavior. But today, being as skeptical as I am, I'm gonna guess that about 95% of the serial cheaters will remain serial cheaters.
When you ask about a one time cheater, well that's up for discussion, and could drop to about the 50% level, if you want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But that is an optimistic percentage, which I feel, not based on research whatsoever! Only, and only if they do all the work, and prove that rebuilding is what their heart desires. But then again, we knew that, didn't we, that words are cheap, and easy!
And that their actions over a long period of time, along with full remorse, full effort in helping their partner heal, full transparency, counseling, and full commitment over time. Other than that, I would still be very dubious.
After all people teach us, and point out to us, how we should treat them. When they make poor judgment mistakes, we have to consider that a repeat is possible, unless they prove to us otherwise!
Since when does being educated exclude you from being a psychopath? Not saying this man is one, just that your statement does not support it.
On a side note, some of the most educated people I have known have also been some of the dumbest. If you keep throwing money at an educational institution, eventually they will award you with a sheepskin.
