Infidelity Support Group
Any relationship in which one partner engages willfully in sexual relations with another outside of the partnership is considered to have experienced infidelity. This breach of trust is often traumatizing for the faithful partner as well as the relationship, and support is often needed to heal emotionally and to decide whether or not the relationship should continue after...
It's been two years since DDay, and although I chose to stay with my husband and keep my family intact, I am still unhappy and somewhat traumatized by his affair. He ended it, and we endured 1.5 years of couples counseling and for me, 1.5 years of individual counseling. I decided to see a new therapist because of my continued unhappiness despite his ability to move on almost seamlessly, and the resulting apathy I have toward our marriage as a result. The therapist suggested that he is a narcissistic person who will never fully empathize with what I'm going through, and so I am debating whether to leave the marriage. Do any of you have narcissistic spouses, and if so, what has been your experience in this type of situation? Any nights are appreciated.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
I wouldn’t classify someone to be narcissistic because he moves on too fast.. this alone is not an indicator because speed of moving on is an individual trait, but narcissists usually chose to live from the point of view “ what is most convenient for me “ and tend to show little interest or compassion for others.
They generally do not admit their faults and blame shift everything on others in a consistent manner.. for example if they cheat, they say “ you made me feel unwanted”, if they lose their job they say “ my boss is a jerk and everyone in the office set me up for failure “
IF you are safe, and not living in fear or walking on egg shells, then to me the marriage is worth building.
His moving on has nothing to do with you, yet it has everything to do with the fact you are still with him.
How is he treating you, is there still blame or shame, is he open with you, is he upfront about things, these are factors you should look at.
Are you still fighting with it in your head, are you holding on to hurt and pain inside you, has your trust not returned, are you still growing and healing, have you grown a new sense of self, those are hard questions you should look at.
We can only give our opinion and hopefully we can give it unbiased.
I hope life is going well for you.
Thanks for the update.
I read your other posts. I am wondering if you are giving yourself the good treatment you need right now. Meaning, you said 4 years ago, when you found out about his affair, that you are going to stay for your kids. And now you're saying you will stay another 5 years for the kids. That's 9 total years. Of *your* life. And I am just concerned that staying for that many years (when you say you pretty much know the marriage is over) will give you more trauma. See, an affair gives the betrayed spouse, trauma. The longer you stay, the more anger you will feel and unhappiness and just all kinds of negative emotions that feed into your (already) trauma. Long story short, please consider leaving sooner than - when the kids go to college. What if he starts another affair, will you still stay? Because that would be torture on you and I hate to see that happen. You have been through so much already.
Another reason for moving on would be that you can move away so that you don't have to see that affair woman anymore.
Your life is right now. We are not guaranteed any tomorrow's.
I would strongly suggest you consider living your life now, and not for the kids. I am sure they know something is up with Mom and Dad anyway. If you know you are going to want a divorce, then please consider pursuing that sooner than later. Waiting yet another 5 years just sounds like torture to me.
