Baby Dust to You All...

I don't know where to start.

My honey started to talk about having a surrogate.

I paused...said "No Way"! I took a few minutes ....to look up information on surrogate.

To my surprise there's two types of surrogate-

A Gestational Surrogate is the most common type of surrogacy. A gestational surrogate carries a child that is not related to her in any way. The embryo is usually created through the intended mother's egg and intended father's sperm using In Vitro Fertilization or IVF.

A Traditional Surrogate acts as both egg donor and surrogate. Traditional Surrogates are impregnated by a process called intrauterine insemination or IUI. A doctor transfers sperm taken from the intended father and transfers the sperm into the uterus of the surrogate so that natural fertilization can take place.

Both of us...decided to purchase a fertility kit...if that doesn't work then he will test his sperm in the doctor's office.

Then he began to talk about adaption....I ,also ...fainted...the thought ...of not being ...able to carry my own child ,,,is not ...within my belief.I know,I can ...just need some intervention from fertility specialist ,eating healthy and take care of my body.

Have you been to a RE? That is really an important first step to get more info and a plan. Testing DHs sperm is pretty simple and a great place to start with the RE. Good luck doll!

I agree with Polkadotgirl. The options that you are discussing are expensive but valid options. But you guys are also overlooking other cheaper and successful options. An re will do blood tests and ultrasounds on you and a semenalysis on your husband. If you want to carry your own child, I really recommend that you see a specialist asap to find out what's going on and how to fix it. It could honestly be as simple as some clomid- a cheap prescription med- or you may need a surrogate or to adopt- both cost over $10000, especially if you don't have a familial surrogate.

I agree with everyone else. Go see a fertility specialist. I don't know your whole history, but it seems like you're jumping to surrogacy before trying other interventions.

Yes Yes Yes.... go see an RE. It's really hard to take the first step, but you will get all of the tests they can do, and most people do find out what the issue is. The good part of that is, that most issues have solutions. Not many are easy or quick solutions, but those Dr's are there to help. Those like me with no know issues still have peace of mind, or a reason to go for a LAP, or even just to know my lady bits are doing well and IVF is a good option. I have even heard that if the hubby has sperm that is not ideal, vitamins, or a change in diet can help.

Also as a side note: it is great that the hubby is open to other options. He may just be coming to terms with the "what if's" and discussing it with you. That is a great thing. You know now if it ever did come to that, that he will be open. I'm sure he does not mean to jump into it now. Thinking ahead can be good! Sorry it caused you stress though.

A Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) is a doctor that specializes in fertility and will be able to help figure out why you're having trouble getting pregnant, do some diagnostic tests and make a plan with you to move forward.

I would for sure consult an re before making any decision. You did not mention if you know or not who and what is the cause of your IF. There is so many options to look into before you considere a surrogate.
The first things should be testing DH's sperm, you both getting blood test done and maybe getting a HSG done and an evaluation of your ovarian reserve. It probably seems like a lot but really it's all very simple.
We considered a surrogate because of my issues but it can be very expensive and really is more a last resort than your first steps.

For me the surrogacy was the last step. But now I am happy that I decided to do it, and believe me it was NOT the simple decision. Girls try everything you can, but if everything will be wrong, dont be upset and do not regret the surrogacy.
