I just want to vent for a moment. My two cousins have gotten pregnant through ivf that their husbands insurance pays for. I am not that fortunate. I have been ttc for 5.5 years. I have endo and had surgery for it a few years ago. No symptoms since except heavy and painful periods. Went to a fertility specialist after and he looked at the video and pics from the surgery. He ran every test on me and my husband and found nothing. Told me to come back in 6 months. We tried one unsuccessful iui. We can't afford ivf since I was promised a raise as a teacher every year and we were frozen on the pay scale for 5. Meanwhile my mtg goes up because of our insurance and our savings was wiped out after our house and car were struck by lightning. I wish I could be hopeful but I am 34, and we are paycheck to paycheck. I have no means to pay for ivf and the clock is ticking. Thanks for letting me vent.

NYCHopeful, its crazy you said that because a year ago I was told I had a problem with my thyroid and vitamin d levels. I take 2000 iui's daily but maybe I should up it? Also I take synthroid for my thyroid. Im hoping it will help. Ive heard people with endometriosis are estrogen dominant. I tried using progesterone cream but it made me throw up each day I took it. So now I am trying vitex and hoping it will help regulate my hormones

I'm sorry you are going through this! I'm kind of in the same boat. We had two failed IVF's. My insurance paid for the first IVF. We still paid about $7,000 out of pocket for our meds, copays and anesthesia. In 2013, our insurance went from paying $20,000 down to $10,000 maximum lifetime for IVF. Now we just had our 2nd failed IVF and paid completely out of pocket. We borrowed against our 401K. I also have a friend who's insurance pays enough to cover 5 IVF cycles. That is just mind-blowing to me!
I briefly looked into the financial assistance programs but the interest rates were ridiculous.
I think some of the other girls said this, but many RE offices do a payment plan for so many cycles/ money back if it does not work. As far as paying the money for the updated tests, how about one of those credit cards that are interest free if you switch your debt over? I did that once, not for anything infertility related, and I had one year interest free to pay it off. Just a thought.
As far as the holidays, I am so with you there!! I could not wait for them to be over this year and my family rivals the Griswalds!!! We even flat out lied to get out of a bunch of parties. We really had to get creative towards the end. My DH can only have so many office work parties!!
Ugghh I'm sorry any of us have to go through this mental, physical and financial hell!! Best of luck to you and hope we all find our answers this year.

Good afternoon KelMelvin I am sorry to hear what you have gone through and what you are going through now. I understand how you feel regarding holidays I know that not conceiving has something to do with it but I have not put up any decorations for the past few years either. My supervisor has been trying to adopt for a while her situation is different then yours and mine but I have been able to learn a lot through her process I know there are places where you can foster a child that has no parents etc or anyone that will try to take them back. I will look in to that I live in the state of Texas so I don't know if laws are different in some states etc. I hope the best for you sending blessings your way :)
