I am getting ready to start my first IVF cycle and looks like I'll be starting my stims next wednesday with a tentative ER on 8.3 and transfer on 8.8. So super close to you!! Fingers crossed!

I will be starting my very first IVF cycle in August, so I'll definitely be behind you but hopefully not too far behind! I'll probably be starting when heatherttc starts.

I'm still shocked that my husband and I are even doing IVF. I never thought we'd be able to due to the high cost, but we found a local clinic that offers more affordable rates. And we're taking out a loan to do it! I'm very excited and nervous as I'm sure you all are!

By the way, BecMarie, I see that you're also a PA gal. I live near Philly (I'm going to Penn Medicine.)

I am starting my stimulation shots tonight and I am nervous. My husband is stressed and I am having a hard time concentrating on anything else. I was so excited to see all my follicles on the ultrasound this morning, then rushed to make it to a work orientation late. It's hard to start a new job and not feel comfortable enough to explain to others why I am always late from the doctors.

Kumi007, good luck with your cycle! I'm sure it has to be really hard to do IVF while starting a new job. Do you have an HR department you can talk to?

Danielle, I just told HR that I would be late for my trainning a few times and then miss a few days for surgery and recovery. I don't mind being vague with them, and even when my new mentor asked if I was ok, I just said yes and left it at that. The difficult part is meeting all my other co workers and them seeing that I am out a lot for doctors appointments and talk in ng about that. They are sweet and express concern, but then I don't tell them what is really going on and don't even try to make an excuse. They can tell I am hiding something, but they respect my privacy. It is awkward. I am hoping to grow a relationship with some one I work with so I can share this with them. I don't really mind sharing, but I do t want them to think I don't care about focusing on my new job because I am electing to have these treatments now.

Kumi-When I did my first IVF I was totally secretive about what was going on. I worked with my co-workers for years and thankfully when I asked a few of them to cover an hour of my shift (I'm a nurse and would start at 7am so I asked night shift to stay until 8am to cover me). They were AMAZING about it. No one even questioned me what I was up to surprisingly. A few of them just mentioned that they hoped everything was ok. Needless to say, my cycle failed anyway. I was hoping to share with them the good news as to what they helped me accomplish, but that never happened. It sounds like for now your co-workers are respecting your privacy which is great.

It is always so awkward to explain at work. I just told my boss on Thursday, and I was so nervous about it even though she knew we had been seeing a fertility specialist previously. Fortunately, she was super sweet and supportive about it (she even gave me a hug), and I've been working there for almost eight years so that does make it easier. I just don't want them thinking my work is going to suffer (since no one really does my job when I'm not there, and I'm responsible for all the billing, payroll, etc.) so I understand where you're coming from. Just wanting to check in and see how you are all doing!? I had my first scan yesterday and it's looking like I have 11 good sized follies with a few smaller ones that might catch up! I have another scan tomorrow and will know more. As far as I'm aware we are still tentatively planning on the ER for 8.3 and transfer on 8.8.

Hi babysteps! Happy to have another cycle buddy! Are you an emotional wreck over something specific or just the whole process? Lord knows it is stressful. I wasn't thinking too much about it in the beginning while on vacation but now the baby thoughts are starting to consume. "It's gonna work! But what if it doesn't?..again!" and on and on my head goes. Sigh...fuck you IF!! Praying this is all of our miracle cycles!

I'm so hoping these are our miracle cycles too. I hear ya, BecMarie. I'm afraid I'm being too hopeful - for fear I'll be crushed in the end. My husband keeps cautioning me, but then I told him I'll be crushed anyway if it doesn't work. So I may as well enjoy feeling positive and thinking baby thoughts. We were even talking about how we want to take our child to Disney when he/she is old enough to remember it.

My cycle hasn't started yet, but I did have my mock transfer done last week, and I have my nursing consult tomorrow. I should find out then exactly when I'll be starting - it should be very soon. :)
