@Hope I know it is kind of overwhelming with all the info they throw at you at orientation, but they will basically walk you through every step. So do not stress that you will forget something or miss starting something, because they will make sure you know what to do each step of the way. That being said, I am still OCD about everything and have a notebook with all my notes and multiple copies of my calendar etc so I can make sure I know what I am doing before my nurse tells me what I am doing.
Also a few of us in this April group are IVF veterans that can also answering a lot of the questions you may end up having.
I have a retrieval scheduling question....
So they told me that my RE will be monitoring me very closely while on these meds and will be sending updates to the hospital every time she sees me. Then she will give me the pre mixed trigger shot and the hospital will be calling me to tell me when to take that and when to come in for the transfer. I am a bit concerned about calling out of work on short notice is there anyway they can give you like an estimated date so you can at least put in for off and just change the date?
Also they told me that after the retrieval that I should eat 1 can a soup a day for a week and a half to help with the fluid buildup in my ovaries something about the sodium really helping...has anyone ever heard of this?
You just opened up a can of worm LMWT now I won't stop bombarding you with questions haha j/k.
Thanks!
You will have an idea of when your ER will be within a day or two when you start your cycle. Because they know you will stim for at least 7-10ish days. So they will give you a window for your ER at the start. It all just depends on how you respond to meds.
On my second IVF I was very open with my male boss that I was doing IVF and needed flexibility with time off. He and his wife had gone through 5 years of IF, so he was really understanding. But even if he had not, I probably would have told him because it takes a lot of stress off the whole process. Obviously if you are not comfortable with telling your boss about IVF, at least say you have an appointment that you will need flexibility with. It may help them be more willing to work with you.
I had not heard of the soup, but that is a great idea. Normally Docs and all of us ladies on DS push Gatorade and other salty foods. I drink Gatorade like its my job after ER. The salt does help with the bloating you will feel from stimulating your ovaries like crazy and can help with minimizing over stimulation symptoms.
They mentioned gatorade too so good to know that I should def keep up with that! I am not much a salt person so I am glad they told me about soup that will make it easy for me to get it in my system.
I have thought about telling my boss however she cringes every time she finds out someone is pregnant. Were 90% female in a smallish company and in 2013 alone we have 5 ladies out on MAT leave lol. She doesn't have kids nor is she married and don't think she would be very sympathetic to the situation. She is a fur mommy so when my one pup was diagnosed with cancer she was super supportive about that so she's not a total black heart!
I feel like 2014 has been a really shitty year for all my DS sisters who are still ttc. I feel like everyone who did get a BFP wound up miscarrying. It's time for some happiness around here!
FSH and screening US done today, waiting on results!!!
But I get to start my micro dose of Lupron tonight too!!
Wahoo! So glad to join the party!
