I'm so sorry that they were so crappy to you!! I really wish that people would think about what they say before letting it exit their mouth!! Unfortunately, there are so many that don't!!!

you know, it amazes me that when you are young, they make it seem like you skip one birth control pill, even with a condom- you're going to get pregnant. So everyone just automatically expects that when you want a child (or even sometimes when you don't) that it will happen. And for many people, it does. But noone ever tells you that there ARE people who can't seem to get pregnant no matter how hard you try. It's not even a thought to be introduced into people's minds. And yet, here we are:infertile, alone, hurt, and misunderstood. You have to just remember that people are not being insensitive on purpose.. they are just ignorant to the facts of life that we are forced to handle. There is nothing I hate more than to hear someone is pregnant, or have someone ask about when i will be. I still cry, but I try to remember that it really is one of those things that noone ever told you growing up, and try to understand where they are at in their uninformed ignorant mind.

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. I work with all women (all mothers) I'm unsure now if it would be better for a more male working environment!!

I think that people take their fertility for granted and often say things (like what your coworkers did) wo thinking of HOW hard becoming a mom CAN be.

Interestingly enough, I normally hear the insensitive comments from WOMEN who are mothers. I've heard "you don't qualify", and "Oh, that doesn't qualify" (when I used to have a Maltese dog). I talked to my former counselor about it in past sessions. I don't know what the hell the problem is with some women. I don't know it's insecurity and they use it to "one up" those of us who are not mothers; in order to feel good about themselves. Or perhaps it's ignorance. As someone stated, people definitely take fertility for granted. One eye-opening walk in our shoes would surely change that! Wishful thinking...

If you chose your second option you are a woman of steal. I would've gone home and pulled out the comfort food. People suck! Just today I had someone wish me a happy belated mother's day. I told her I didn't have any children. She said she thought I had a little boy. I had to explain that my co-teacher has the little boy. Then she went into the whole "you've got a bunch of boys to love" (the boys in my class)...seriously?!?!? I'm tired of hearing that. I used to use it as a front for myself. Now I don't even bother saying that. I want my own freakin' kid to love. Ok, now I'm venting sorry!!!! Going to go back to PEOPLE SUCK!

Lyla, you're right! I would have headed to the gym and punched the punching bag for hours after the comments those clowns made! Ridiculous! Here is the deal. I don't have children of my own, however, I care, provide, and nurture: 1. my husband 2. my dogs 3. my birds 4. my brother 5. my aging parents... the list can go on and on. Now a characteristic that stands out in a "mother" in that, to nurture. So, in my opinion, I am a mother in my own right now, even w/o two legged children of my own, and a darn good one! You should hold on to that in your heart. You deserve recognition because you love an nurture, and what, those idiots think some crack head that has eight kids that are open CPS cases deserve to "qualify". Popping out a kid is not what makes you a mother! Don't let them get to you, Lyla. The sound like a bunch of, pardon my language, ass-clowns!

I'm sorry about those comments. People don't even realize.

I feel the same way KeepSwimming09 does...it seems like young people get preggo with a snap of the fingers. It's so hard to not get upset.
