First congrats this is exciting!!! I am 7 weeks pregnant after my 2nd IUI. So the first one didn't work but the next one did!!!

Our insurance payed for the ulstrasounds and bloodwoork. We had to pay for the Femara (just like Clomid) $30 for that and the Trigger shot $100. and the IUI itselft $350.

I would check your insurance plan, some states require that insurance covers this type of procedure.. if not, offices usually offer discounts to cash payments, like up to 20% off, I would ask.. good luck and keep us posted!

HEY,,MY INSURANCE PAYS 80/20% THEY PAY 80 AND I PAY 20...MY DEDUCABLE IS $1000.00 AT $2500.00 IT 100%....NOT COVERED FOR MEDS....BUT I HAVE A $500.00 ON MEDS I SEND A ORINT OUT AND I GET A CHECK FOR HALF......

i will have my first IUI in a few weeks too, so i have been doing some research. i have read that IUI's have a 15% success rate. not going to lie, but i cried when i heard this. i had/have such high hopes. but anyway, i set up a discussion board asking that same question (has it worked for anyone?) and TONS of people said it had!! so i am trying to stay positive..
i called my insurance before i went to a specialist, and they walked me through my coverage, and sent me a copy as well. for my IUI's to be covered my doctor had to send in an authorization form. they cover 6 cycles. hopefully your insurance will at least help you out with some of the cost.

our insurance doesn't pay for anything but that's because my husband is self-employed. my first iui didn't work but i'm really hopeful that my second one will be it. i did follistim injections. one of my friends got pregnant on her first and another friend on her second with her first baby and then pregnant on her third iui with her second baby. good luck!

My first IUI w/ injectables worked for me. My insurance did not cover anything. Good luck!

I am 28 wks pg after my second IUI w/ Clomid. No injectables or trigger. At the time, my insurance covered everything but a $10 copay. (it has since changed) However, since my dh was not on my insurance plan we had to pay for the sperm prep, which was only about $150. It can definitely work! Good Luck!

My insurance is not helping much. I pay pretty much everything. They pay some of the u/s's and some of the office visits but that is about it. I have ben through 4 IUI's and nothing yet. I did not say that to discourage you. Every woman is different. I wish you the best of luck. Jessica

Yes, people do get pg on their first IUI. I did! and now have 7 month old twins. My RE's office called my insurance found out what everything would cost me. Generic clomid was covered and right after I took it, Kroger and Walmart added it to their discount drug plans($4 for every 5 50 mg prescription) but the ovidrel (hcg) shot was not. All in all, that round cost me, if I remember correctly, $20 for the generic Clomid, $75 for the Ovidrel shot, and $350 for my IUI. Good luck and I hope that helped!

I had my first IUI this morning. keep posted and I'll tell you that it worked (notice the positive thinking) in about 2 weeks .... I work for a company that has tremendous insurance... They covered everything except the copay $30.00.. My employeer believes everyone should have the right to have a family and specifically included it in our insurance plan, so don't expect all of them too.... Your insurance company is the best one to ask

I didn't have success on first IUI, but I have heard it happens so stay positive. BCBS is great insurance. They cover most, but I pay my office copay and am responsible for up to $1000 deductible. I think I usually end up paying 20%.

I just had my 5th IUI last week. I'm praying so hard that it worked this time. I have tried a few different meds and it depends on the type of med you are on how much your monthly costs will be.

My first cycle I did Clomid with was covered and was $7. My body did not react well to it. I had a chemical pregnancy that cycle. Then my second 2 IUIs I was on Femara (like Clomid but much fewer side effects) and it was $25. Then I moved on to Follistim for my 4th and 5th IUIs. Follistim is an injectable medication so it's much more expensive. I was very excited that my insurance covered it and it costs me $70. Each cycle I also took the Ovidrel trigger shot. Sometimes it's covered for me and sometimes it's not so I've paid between $17 - $70 for this shot. All of my bloodwork and ultrasounds are covered by insurance which helps a lot, especially when you are on injectibles because you will have several ultrasounds to monitor your follicles. The IUI and the sperm wash are not covered by my insurance. The IUI is $120 and the sperm wash is $130. So, overall it has cost us $400 - $500 per cycle.
